Investigation agencies have been placed on high alert after a blast near the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) school in Prashant Vihar, Rohini district, on Sunday. The probe into the incident has now been handed over to the National Investigation Agency (NIA). In the wake of the school blast, the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a detailed report from the investigating agencies.

In connection with the case, Delhi Police has registered an FIR under the Explosives Act. Currently, the Special Cell, NIA, CRPF, Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL), and National Security Guard (NSG) are involved in the investigation. The entire area has been cordoned off, and mapping of the vicinity is underway. CCTV footage from nearby shops is being examined to identify the person(s) responsible for planting the bomb. A high alert has been declared across Delhi, and security has been ramped up in major markets.

Teams are also analysing the data from mobile towers in the vicinity of the CRPF school, covering the period from the night of 19 October 2024 to 9 AM on 20 October. Dump data of the entire area will be collected to determine how many phones were active between last night and the time of the explosion. Information on these active phones will then be gathered for further analysis.

According to sources, police had prior intelligence about a major terror plot in Delhi during the festive season, following which all districts were put on alert. Forces were deployed accordingly at various locations.

According to sources cited by news agency ANI, the police have seen the movement of two suspicious people near the spot and the officials verifying whether they had any role in the explosion.

Even the middle class tax evaders have to pay tax on goods and services
Under BJP rule taxless slab has rose 2.5x (from 2L to 5L) in just 11 years. Which means real middle class is paying less direct tax compared to Congress era.

how you people see the news as below, 'the count' of houses for poor upto mid 2024?
i have read the eligibility for these 'Pucca houses' is upto Rs300,000 annual income, as per topic of this thread......

Hi, I just got to know there are dozens of millions of Christians living in India. Are they regarded as majorities or minorities?
Also wondering if Christians are treated as well as hindus are. Are christian people there in a similar situation like the buddaism people or muslim people? Is there any obvious discrimination to them unlike people of other religions?

The PMAY, in the last 10 years, has ensured 4.21 crore houses for eligible economically poor families, according to the latest government figures.

In June 2015, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a flagship scheme to tackle urban homelessness. “Housing for all” by 2022, the government said, repackaging the emotive appeal of the ‘roti, kapda, makaan’ slogan from the Indira Gandhi years.

Moreover, an overwhelming majority of homes – about 83 percent – that are to be constructed under the PMAY-U do not target the landless urban poor at all. This is despite affordable housing for weaker sections remaining a no-go zone for private real estate developers in metropolitan India.

A reality check of a ‘guarantee’

The number of homes constructed and/or renovated under PMAY-U is impressive – around 1.18 crore homes have been sanctioned, out of which over 80 lakh are already complete. These are the headline numbers that are often mentioned by government representatives when discussing the success of PMAY-U. These are numbers that should indeed be celebrated because they represent many families who have enjoyed a boost in their quality of life.

But a huge chunk of the urban poor are still being left out. An overwhelming majority of the homes (about 83 percent) constructed under the PMAY-U are for families that have access to capital or land. The slum rehabilitation scheme within PMAY-U has sanctioned only 2.96 lakh homes :coffee:, around 20 percent of the estimated demand. This constitutes just about 2.5 percent of the total beneficiaries of PMAY-U.

The other troubling reality of the housing situation in urban India is that despite the gains made under PMAY-U, demand outpaces supply. Using the most conservative estimates, the PMAY-U has addressed a mere 25.15 percent of the housing shortage by delivering 80 lakh homes. Even when the remaining houses sanctioned under the scheme are constructed by the end of 2024, it would have addressed just about 37 percent of the real need. Almost 2.4 crore households will still be without a proper roof.

The category of newly industrialized country (NIC), newly industrialized economy (NIE)[1] or middle income country[2] is a socioeconomic classification applied to several countries around the world by political scientists and economists. They represent a subset of developing countries whose economic growth is much higher than other developing countries; and where the social consequences of industrialization, such as urbanization, are reorganizing society.

Definition[edit]

NICs are countries whose economies have not yet reached a developed country's status but have, in a macroeconomic sense, outpaced their developing counterparts. Such countries are still considered developing nations and only differ from other developing nations in the rate at which an NIC's growth is much higher over a shorter allotted time period compared to other developing nations.[3] Another characterization of NICs is that of countries undergoing rapid economic growth (usually export-oriented).[4] Incipient or ongoing industrialization is an important indicator of an NIC.

Characteristics of newly industrialized countries[edit]

Newly industrialized countries can bring about an increase of stabilization in a country's social and economic status, allowing the people living in these nations to begin to experience better living conditions and better lifestyles. Another characteristic that appears in newly industrialized countries is the further development in government structures, such as democracy, the rule of law, and less corruption. Other such examples of a better lifestyle people living in such countries can experience are better transportation, electricity, and better access to water, compared to other developing countries and low infant mortality rate.

Historical context[edit]

The term came into use around 1970, when the Four Asian Tigers[5] of Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong and South Korea rose to become globally competitive in science, technological innovation and economic prosperity as well as NICs in the 1970s and 1980s, with exceptionally fast industrial growth since the 1960s; all four countries having since graduated into high-tech industrialized developed countries with wealthy high-income economies. There is a clear distinction between these countries and the countries now considered NICs. In particular, the combination of an open political process, high GNI per capita, and a thriving, export-oriented economic policy has shown that these East Asian economic tiger countries have roughly come to a match with developed countries as those of Western Europe as well Canada, Japan, Australia, New Zealand and the United States.

All four countries are classified as high-income economies by the World Bank and developed countries by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). All of the Four Asian Tigers, like Western European countries, have a Human Development Index considered "very high" by the United Nations.

Current[edit]

The table below presents the list of countries consistently considered NICs by different authors and experts.[6][7][8][9] Turkey and South Africa were classified among the world's 34 developed countries (DCs) by the CIA World Factbook in 2008.[1] Turkey became a founding member of the OECD in 1961 and Mexico joined in 1994. The G8+5 group is composed of the original G8 members in addition to China, India, Mexico, South Africa and Brazil. The members of the G20 include Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico, South Africa and Turkey. :-)

Why would it be copy paste from other countries? There is no need for drop boxes, that is a dumb idea to begin with open to fraud.

Does France use drop boxes for its paper ballot voting? Everything is cast in person and counted by hand.

With aadhar existing now on top, there are decent number of ways for designing fool proof secure paper ballot voting in India.

Selectively picking worst case scenarios of other countries (and ignoring countries that handle their paper ballot voting far better)... and asserting the worst case is what Indian opposition wants wont fly with me I'm afraid.
