Problem is that by the time someone realizes it and changes policy, it's already too late. Like the 1 million plus Indians who came on H1b to the USA or several million on student visa/Temporary Foreign Worker to Canada. Or the absolutely huge wave of Indians that arrived in UK post-Brexit.

I happened to work with plenty of Indians while working for one of the biggest USA tech giants. Most of them are useless in their work; they only try to copy and paste and follow the scripts prepared by someone else. When it comes to innovation, the cells don't work properly.

Scams should be caught and made an example of but these idiots don’t define entire Indian ethnicity. And actual crime data doesn’t show Indians as unusually criminal, if anything it shows the opposite in these countries.

Figures by themselves show nothing without relevant context.

Historically Pakistani migrants were mostly the labour class and socially from a rural base, so they mostly settled in industrial towns. After the 1980s, the economy of those towns disappeared. Where you have lack of opportunities, you tend to have higher crime rates.

Indian migrants aren't just "Indians", the East Africans are also counted as Indian even though they may not have set foot in India for a hundred years. The East Africans were mostly the professional classes, and business folks, the so-called Indian category benefited from those realities.

Furthermore, most indian migrants were from urban areas, although not exclusively. Migrants tend to follow what the existing same group is doing, that's why most of the delivery personal and shop workers are indian because they are following recent migrants.
It's a complicated picture, but I think my point is fairly clear.

So, those crime figures are rather foolish at face value without the correct context.

There is a lot of misconception here. The universities run a food bank for all students and faculty. All of them get food from there. There is no scam in university food banks atleast.

The initiative provides some financial relief for UVic's student members while encouraging further diversion of functional items from going to the landfill.

The store is open to students, faculty and staff, and gladly accepts donations during regular hours.

Materials in these food banks are donated by local stores. Mostly inventory near their expiry date. Some of it is funded by university itself.

1. all crimes do not have equal weight!

2. media remains silent and does not report crimes done by Indians, they are obsessed by us.

3. figures here, lag and hide the biases already prevalent in the society!



Further, crimes like ganging up to offer bribes, dont even make it to that list!

I know many Indians lawyers who do frauds, would that make it into that list?!

A foreign citizen pays MUCH higher fees by virtue of being a foreign student.

If they can pass the affordability test to pay foreign student fees, they should fairly easily be able to afford living costs. If they cannot afford to feed themselves because - theoretically - they spent their life savings or took out massive loans for tuition, then the university is at fault for passing them on means testing. This is negligent recruitment by the university if true.

It is still far more likely that any foreign student is reasonably well off and can afford enough food to get by, hence this food bank scamming is depriving genuinely hard to do local students of resources that should be theirs.

I haven't seen Chinese or Malaysian students indulging in such practices.

My wife is a PhD student in University of Victoria. Faculty (including professors) make use of food banks and professors are well paid. Staff uses food bank and staff is decently paid. And yes, ALL nationality students use food bank in the university. There is no such expectation that only domestic students should use it.
