TNI's Rapid Reaction Force, Ready to Keep Safeguarding NKRI
Jakarta, IDM – Post-proclamation of independence, Indonesia still faces various potential threats, especially concerning the sovereignty of the country. Call it the threat of separatism in East Timor, Aceh and Papua; as well as violations of border areas in the waters of Natuna and Ambalat.
Facing the situation, then in 1985 on the initiative of the TNI Commander at that time General of the TNI L.B. Moerdani, formed a Rapid Reaction Severing Force (PPRC).
The force is from three matras, namely the Army, the Navy, and the Air Force, which is under the direct control of the TNI Commander.

As a combined task force, PPRC is formed as needed by operation. Every year, the TNI Commander establishes one brigade from Kostrad, Marines, and Paskhas as the main elements of the PPRC.
Rapid Reaction Severing Forces, as the name implies, this unit can be mobilized quickly to all regions of Indonesia. His task is to take action against armed threats for maximum at seven days on the land area of the NKRI, in order to counteract, crack, or destroy opponents.
Having the motto of the PPRC "Short Response" can be parachuted in several missions including raiding; the seizure and defense of a region or base; terrorism; threats to strategic vital objects; piracy, piracy, and smuggling.
In certain situations, the PPRC is also involved in Military Operations Other than War (OMSP) such as the humanitarian mission of national-scale disaster emergency response. (From a variety of sources/ra)
