China’s men’s team reclaimed the Thomas Cup title after a six-year gap hours after their women’s team won the Uber Cup, with Indonesia finishing runners-up in both the competitions on May 5.

It was the first time since 2012 when the same nations contested the men’s and women’s finals at badminton’s world team championships and China prevailed on both occasions.

Twelve years after whitewashing South Korea in both events in Wuhan, they were nearly as dominant against Indonesia at the Hi-Tech Zone Sports Centre Gymnasium in Chengdu.

World Gymnastics Championships head to Indonesia for first time in 2025

Indonesia will host the world artistic gymnastics championships for the first time in 2025.

The capital of Jakarta will host worlds from Oct. 19-25 next year.

Indonesia, which owns the world’s fourth-largest population (about 280 million), hosted the 2018 Asian Games with gymnastics held in a hall within the Jakarta International Expo complex.

The venue for the 2025 World Gymnastics Championships is listed as IMS Arena.

Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo reviewed the readiness of Indonesian artistic gymnast Rifda Irfanaluthfi for the 2024 Paris Olympics while undergoing a training session in Jakarta on Friday.

"This is in order to ensure the smooth preparation of the Indonesian contingent for the Paris Olympics," Dito told the media crew after meeting Rifda Irfanaluthfi and the coaching team at Elite Club Epicentrum, Kuningan, Jakarta.

During his visit, which was accompanied by the Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, Dito also discussed with Rifda, the coaching team, and the Chairman of the Executive Board of the Indonesian Gymnastics Association (PB Persani) Ita Yuliati Irawan.

After the discussion, Dito said, currently Rifda's condition has improved due to a leg injury.

The physical training undergone today, he said, is also to ensure that Rifda's condition remains in prime condition until it is time to appear at the Paris Olympics.

Dito explained, Rifda will also undergo training in the Netherlands on June 15 so he hopes that the preparations made will be maximized.

"Hopefully this can carve out a new history later at the Paris Olympics and in the future can maintain the tradition of Indonesian gymnastics always qualifying for the Olympics," he said.


He added that gymnastics is one of the three main sports, so Indonesia must show the world community that Indonesia can excel and be committed to the development of artistic gymnastics.

Dito added, in order to welcome the Paris Olympics, his party and CdM will see firsthand the preparations of all athletes who have qualified for Paris.

He hopes that the Indonesian contingent will be able to achieve maximum achievements and make new history in the world's highest sports competition in Paris.

Starting from this year our professional basketball teams play home and away in our league. This means they should have their own stadiums to participate in our league. So far all of the teams can meet the condition including Dewa United who build its own stadium and new home base in Banten Province.

Despite not as popular as football, at least the competition can run under this condition that requires much money to participate on the league
