BIAS 2024: PTDI Collaborates with Local Startups for Aerospace Product Development in Indonesia
PTDI
AIRSPACE REVIEW – Awareness of the importance of the future mode of transportation for e-VTOL aircraft based on
Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) with the latest technology, encourages PTDI to take its role as a center for aerospace product development that is open and accessible to
start-up companies that take the initiative to develop new generation products.
This is motivated by PTDI's position as the only aircraft manufacturer (OEM) in Indonesia that already has complete resources in the aerospace industry, which can support the development, manufacturing, and commercialization of AAM aircraft.
On the second day of the Bali International Airshow (BIAS) (19/9), President Director of PTDI Gita Amperiawan witnessed the signing
of a Letter of Intent (LoI) between PT Vela Prima Nusantara (which is PTDI's partner in the development of AAM) and PT Sayap Garuda Indah (SGI Air Bali) for collaboration in the development of Vela
Alpha aircraft until the successful acquisition of certification by the relevant aviation authorities.
In this case, the certification was obtained from the Directorate of Airworthiness & Aircraft Operations (DKPPU) of the Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia.
The partnership will continue until the purchase of Vela
Alpha units that will be operated by SGI Air Bali to support the tourism sector, as well as charter flights.
After that, Vela and PTDI also agreed on a
Framework Agreement for cooperation in the engineering, development and production of the Vela
Alpha aircraft.
Vela
Alpha is an e-VTOL-capable vehicle (electrically powered vertical take-off and landing) and cruising with a pusher engine.
The cabin can accommodate four passengers for VIP transport and a capacity of 6 passengers for economy transport.
At BIAS 2024, Vela showcased a 1:3 scale aircraft that was displayed in an outdoor arena.
Next, Vela will build a 1:1
scale technology demonstrator aircraft with a target of completing construction by the end of 2025.
In addition to its collaboration with Vela, PTDI also collaborates with another startup, namely PT Intercrus Aero Indonesia (Intercrus) to jointly develop, certify, manufacture and commercialize an AAM-based multicopter product called Intercrus
Sola.
Sola is an e-VTOL ride with a capacity for three passengers, to meet the needs of mobility transportation.
On the second day of BIAS 2024, PTDI and Intercrus announced their collaboration which was marked by the signing of a Framework Agreement on cooperation in preliminary design,
feasibility study & full-scale prototype development activities for Intercrus
Sola.
This is a follow-up to the previous MoU agreement regarding cooperation in the development, certification, manufacturing and commercialization of Intercrus
Sola which was signed in June 2024 in Bandung.
PTDI's collaboration with each
start-up company partner is a form of PTDI's commitment to realizing the vision of a more efficient and environmentally friendly future air transportation.
