Sixteen of Indonesia’s most prominent Islamic organizations, including NU and Muhammadiyah, have pledged their commitment to support President Prabowo Subianto. They agreed to work hand-in-hand in urging the public to remain composed amid ongoing national dynamics.
The significant meeting was held at President Prabowo’s private residence in Hambalang, Bogor Regency, West Java, on Saturday. This intensive dialogue aimed to address the problems and challenges the nation has faced in recent times.
During the three-hour discussion, the chairmen and secretaries-general of the 16 Islamic organizations exchanged views. Together, they sought solutions to maintain national stability and unity under President Prabowo’s leadership.
Synergy of Islamic Organizations and Government for National Stability
The meeting between President Prabowo Subianto and representatives of Islamic organizations marked an important step in efforts to safeguard national stability. This heart-to-heart dialogue enabled a comprehensive understanding of the country’s problems.
Chairman of Nahdlatul Ulama (PBNU), Yahya Cholil Staquf—commonly known as Gus Yahya—stressed the shared commitment. He said the Islamic organizations would strive to manage the situation and encourage the public to remain calm.
Gus Yahya also expressed confidence that President Prabowo’s administration, supported by religious leaders, would be able to face various challenges. This synergy is expected to bring positive impacts for peace and national progress.
The presence of several cabinet ministers, the Speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR), and the head of the State Intelligence Agency (BIN) at the meeting underscored the government’s seriousness. This collaboration is expected to strengthen joint efforts in addressing critical issues that demand serious attention.
Commitment to Safeguard National Unity and Integrity
At the same occasion, Chairman of Muhammadiyah, Prof. Haedar Nashir, stated that each organization had given valuable input to President Prabowo. These inputs reflect diverse perspectives but share a common purpose.
Haedar Nashir emphasized that Islamic organizations have a long history in Indonesia’s independence struggle and its post-independence development. Therefore, safeguarding unity, integrity, and the nation’s future is a collective responsibility to be carried out with full awareness.
The 16 Islamic organizations strongly believe that all Indonesians can exercise democracy responsibly and with proper conduct. They called for constructive participation in every democratic process.
Prof. Haedar Nashir also reminded the public to remain vigilant against acts that could damage democracy, such as violence. Actions that could undermine Indonesia’s unity and cohesion must be avoided for the common good.
Continued Dialogue for the Nation’s Future
Gus Yahya announced that the Hambalang meeting would be followed by another dialogue at the State Palace in Jakarta. This follow-up meeting will also involve representatives of various Islamic mass organizations.
This planned continuation is expected to produce more concrete commitments and agreements. These will serve as the foundation for synergy between President Prabowo Subianto and Islamic organizations as representatives of Indonesian Muslims.
The initiative for continued dialogue reflects a serious commitment from both sides to keep collaborating. The goal is to find the best solutions for the country’s challenges and ensure a brighter future.
The Hambalang meeting was attended by several key figures, including:
- Defense Minister Sjafrie Sjamsoeddin
