Indus Water Treaty: Discussion, News & Updates

You guys still have 10-15 years of headstart to build your own water infra. It's not like we will shut off the river like this in few days.

India is obligated to obey the Treaty it signed.
Yeah, unless we can make them, they are not. There is nothing like international law, and no one is going to help us in this regard. Either you acquiesce to their demands and renegotiate the treaty, or fight a war. There are no other options in between. Clearly we have no intention/capability of the latter so its going to be the former.

  • The term "Main" added after Indus, Jhelum, Chenab, Sutlej, Beas or Ravi means the main stem of the named river excluding its Tributaries, but including all channels and creeks of the main stem of that river and such Connecting Lakes as form part of the main stem itself. The Jhelum Main shall be deemed to extend up to Verinag, and the Chenab Main up to the confluence of the river Chandra and the river Bhaga. :coffee:
    • The term "Eastern Rivers" means The Sutlej, The Beas and The Ravi taken together. ☕
    • The term Western Rivers" means The Indus, The Jhelum and The Chenab taken together.
    • The term "the Rivers" means all the rivers, The Sutlej, The Beas, The Ravi, The Indus, The Jelum and The Chenab.
    • The term "Connecting Lake" means any lake which receives water from, or yields water to, any of the Rivers; but any lake which occasionally and irregularly receives only the spill of any of the Rivers and returns only the whole or part of that spill is not a Connecting Lake. 👍

Cholistan Canal is the most retarded idea ever, you won't just transform a desert. Instead introduce more efficient irritation and line up your goddamn canals, they're actively turning fertile land into desert.

Its very good idea if you see the map where canal will be build. Anyway the point was not that. The point is India stealing 1 MAF isn't big deal for Sindhi nationalist but 0.4 MAF going to Jalalpur canal from punjab own share in summer is problem.

"If farmers in Pakistan are facing a water problem today, then the biggest reason for this is the People's Party and Sindhi nationalists, who feel no distress at all when India stops the water, but when Punjab tries to draw a canal from its own water, it becomes a matter of life and death for them; Sindhi nationalists and the People's Party are exploiting Pakistan's farmers!!"

I completely agree with dabbu here. India will try to steal Pakistan water and punjabi is expected to die to get that water back. Sindhi/Baloch will sit back and relax. They already get half of water yet produce 10% of Pakistan crops.

Now punjab will not die protecting Pakistan share of water, we will simply pass the shortage to Sindh/Balochistan. India you can go ahead and build that tunnel to divert 1 MAF of water.

Why die for 1 MAF of water which will not affect 1% to punjab. The only way punjab will be affected is if India somehow will develop capacity to hold 20 MAF in winter on western rivers which is impossible anyway.

"Indus water treaty in its present form will not function again"

What kind of retarded statement is this? India has already violated the treaty. The treaty stands broken. What is he even talking about?

We don't need headstarts. We will bomb your dams. We will not do anything less than accept the sacrificial offering of Indian lives and infrastructure that your people have made the minute they uttered this word "abeyance".

Do you remember the press conference in February 2019 after the Balakot airstrike? Several suited individuals from among your lesser evolved barhadari put on quite a show that day with the world's cameras flashing away as you declared "new normal saar!". We remember it well. For a few hours, Hindustanis genuinely believed they had evolved into an Israel v2.0, able to strike its opponents at will and with impunity. Then Nandu happened and the rest is history.

The only "new normals" established that day were the chronic delusion of Indian policy makers and the firm assurance of a Pakistani retort to any nefarious designs even whispered by this delusional enemy.
