Cyprus is very important for controlling the Middle East. This very place was one of the reasons for the fall of the Ottoman Empire, because when the British Empire came, they started holding this island and creating troubles for the Ottomans from this strategic position. They have strong control over Turkey. They hate Christianity as much as Catholics and Orthodox, so if they control Cyprus (which is already under UK and Greek influence), Greece will also be in trouble.
