To be fair iraqs government isn’t part of the actual resistance are the Iraqi groups going to go to war over a small amount of troops in Iraq that aren’t threatening them sorry same could be said about a few hundred idf in Syria is Syrias army going to go to war to kick out a few hundred troops that have taken territory past the golan heights line I don’t think that’s happening any time soon.

Iran has way to many infiltration on its borders agree they should be doing a better job but ama expulsion be said about Pakistan Egypt Syria and yes even turkey from time to time.

Didn’t qatars own airspace get violated by Israel in an attack. Iraq is weak and much of north iraq is still controlled by Kurds who wouldn’t bat an eye if Iran is attacked since let’s assume most of those flights were flown from Syria through northern Iraq.

Thats not an excuse, the shia are a majority and the ones who run govt. The "resistance" groups form the govt. There is no excuse for them to not have soverignty over their airspace via buying Air Defense systems from Russia or China, or fighter jets for air patrols.

The reality is Post Saddam Iraq is a joke. The revenue from oil sales go to the US and the US gives Iraq stipends as payments. The govt of Iraq was established by the United States, so its to no one surprise that its weak.

There is no excuse for not having an air force and not buying fighter jets from China, there is no excuse b/c its almost 25 years since Saddam believe it or not. And still no air force and no air defense. They have the oil so money should not be an issue. Its incompetence and kleptocracy.

As far as I know, the U.S. has several times prevented the Iraqis from purchasing an air defense system. They threatened sanctions against Iraq when they wanted to purchase the Russian S-300 and S-400. They refused to sell Patriot or THAAD. They also threatened sanctions against Iraq for trying to purchase Chinese systems.

Last I read was that the Iraqis were finally allowed to purchase an air defense system...from South Korea. Sources:

Relevance to the topic: According to the Iraqi Min of Def, the system should be delivered by Q1 2026, and possibly fully integrated by Q2 2026. This is directly relevant to possible Israeli campaign against Iran.

Can I get the source on the threat regarding China. Russia of course will lead to CAATSA but China I would be surprised, especially when China is actually a partner that can counter balance the US both in terms of military equipment and economics.

False. SM-2, SM-3 and SM-6 are defensive interceptors. They are not offensive weapons. That means they were used in order to intercept projectiles coming from the Houthis in Yemen and from the Iranians during the 12-day war. Nothing to do with the munitions dropped on Gaza. If neither the Houthis nor Iran had fired ballistic missiles on Israel, the U.S. wouldn't be in a shortage right now. Has nothing to do with Gaza or Hamas.

Houthis were firing at Red Sea and Israel because of Gaza. US then did a two month campaign in Yemen. US was also shooting down munitions fired from Iraq which were fired partially for Gaza and part for Lebanon. Lebanon was firing at Israel because of Gaza. It all largely traces back to Gaza with exception of 12 day war which was more about striking Iranian nuclear program.

We could have told Israel to manage its own defense needs. It would incur more casualties, so what ? Now we have a shortage because we don't want Israelis to incur any casualties. But Ukranians can get slaughtered. Only Israel has that privilege.

There is also a shortage of offensive munitions. Because we have Israel around 30,000-100,000 jdam/gbu bombs to drop on tiny Gaza which is basically a concentration camp.

I was telling someone that if you have something very precious and important, you keep it under tight security. What I mean is, if a thief can steal that thing from you, or if a gangster comes and takes it away by force, you'd need protection.

It’s the same for Iran. They have valuable gas and oil reserves, along with other minerals and resources all of which need to be secured. To protect these assets, they need proper weapons. If they don’t have the means to defend themselves, bullies, gangsters, and thieves will try to steal what’s theirs.

So, one must understand: if Iran wants to maintain control over its reserves, resources, and history, they must have something that guarantees the protection of their wealth.
