This guy's business is war and US domination. By saying all this he is merely laying the groundwork for a future war with Iran that involves ground troops ala Iraq. Him and other neocons haven't fully figured out the justifications or how to sell it and neither do I think they will be able to sell it to the American public. Unless there is another 9/11 style attack on US soil and Iran is found responsible.

Until proven otherwise, US has no ground forces capability or availability for an Iran war scenario, end of discussion.

One US ship has to be hit then only deterrence will be restored. Even if US strikes back they will be more than wary to escalate issue such as this.

Right now it seems that US is more than ok to engage in low intensity strikes to send a message. Iran cannot allow that and must wrestle bXkthe escalation ladder.

I don't know how credible is their source but there was enough attention given to their story that the Pakistani officials had to deny the alleged phone call between the Iranian President and the Pakistani Prime Minister.

Iran maybe feeling that by responding, but doing weak responses, it does not escalate things, but that approach is having the opposite effect because it makes Trump think that the cost of further aggression on Iran by the US, and US casualties will be low as he perceives Iranian militaries technical abilities as being low. This is the danger for Iran, that its anti-denial technical capabilities are being viewed as weak.

This is invites more war, and more danger and not less.

The inability of Iran to actually hit a US warship should be worrying for Iran. Iran doesn't need to fire off lots of munitions, it needs to hit multiple ships in the same way it hit multiple aircraft over Iran, to establish real "technical deterrence".

Hmm .I guess this isn't too surprising and I wouldn't be surprised Iran was aware of the deployment of IDF forces to AZ(maybe the Iranian drone strikes in AZ were a warning?)

Either way, it seems like Russia will have to reset Armenia and Iran will have to reset Azerbaijan.

The US vessels hundreds of miles from the Strait are basically unreachable, especially with the air defenses. However, it was a turkey shoot when the vessels had came close/in the Strait but Iran fired missiles over them, deliberately not striking them as large American casualties would tilt the anti-war opinion in America.
