One US ship has to be hit then only deterrence will be restored. Even if US strikes back they will be more than wary to escalate issue such as this.

Right now it seems that US is more than ok to engage in low intensity strikes to send a message. Iran cannot allow that and must wrestle bXkthe escalation ladder.

Its estimated 2 billion pounds each days for 60 odd days 24/7 … and still that not included destroyed bases high end radars , military aircraft at least 150 billion pounds for sure. Nothing about this ONGOING war makes sense anymore for US pal.

Going forward, the USA has weakened its position relative to Iran, as the threat war is off the table. Iran took the best blows from both Iran and USA, two nuclear powers. What can the USA threaten to do to Iran, that it has not already tried to do so. This make negotiations for the USA harder in the future as Trump/Netanyahu have weakened the USA position.

Your point about Israel Hezb war in 2006 is instructive. Post 2006 the US-Israel strategies changed to airpower, technology based surveillance, assassinations, sabotage and removing the Assad regime in Syria all of which paid dividends in the 2024 conflict.

I expect them to follow the same path now with regards to Iran for the next 10 to 20 years. To me the main Iranian challenge will be splitting the US from Israel, and if it can succeed there then there won't be any future war. Israel won't dare tackle Iran by itself.

What is starkly clear is that Iran has lost the overall geopolitical plot by virtue of being all alone in its political stance and proxy warfare. It has indeed well in the war thus far, but it has destroyed its own economy in the process.

How it will come out of this situation will be interesting to see. Its proxies has all been whittled down to the point of being ineffective. Now Iran itself is facing the situation directly.

It does have the wisdom and the means to play its cards right, and come out at the other end victorious. Whether it does that or not remains to be seen.
