I would not get too excited. Half the Democrats and every republican except the one who was primaried, voted for the bill. This is what AIPAC's strength on the Hill was before the events of the last few years as well. The Dems who voted no are merely responding to the anti Israel sentiment because of an unpopular Mr Netanyahu in an election year.People all over the internet have been sweating over the bill which would sort of 'merge' the US and the Israeli militaries. Some say it is the last ditch attempt by the Israelis to further dig their claws into America as the Israeli influence is fading; look at what NY Times said about 'dramatic' change in the Democratic Party.
I see no way the Republicans are going to get the 60 Senators to vote for such a bill, though who knows about the future.
you are not going to get rid of AIPAC because the billionaires fund it in a system that had been made into "pay to play" by the Supreme Court. You are more likely to see this playbook taken to many more countries around the globe.
