They should have deployed navy & helicopters weeks ago. It’s not like U.K. didn’t know this was on the cards.

The Wildcat's were in the UK for deployment with RN Dragon - but since she is currently unable to sail due to emergency overhauls - the Helicopters will be dispatched first. RAF Akrotiri has 13th Sqdn and 82 Expeditionary Sqdn with the ability to provide air defense for the base.

The UK is just not equipped or prepared for war.

If they were serious they should have helped iran until now.. for china lets say they are prone to sanctions but russia is already sanctioned what other excuse they have now? And what is stopping them in helping iran ? The only issue with direct russia help is the jumping of europe into the conflict which i guess they should avoid. But they can help them under the carpet?

Hell no ! There is some foul play. Now or after some more false flags, azerbaijan will have reason to support against iran. I believe they are looking for reason and we may see ground invasion after all.

Its my speculation, which can 100% be false.

Azerbijan is a direct neighbour of Iran, and a country of only 10million and they need to learn to live with Iran. They should get their thinking caps on asap, as any conflict with Iran means they will have more to lose. Iran will still be there, long after the interests of the USA and Israel are "gone" etc.

Hoping calm heads prevail all around, they should not back themselves into a corner with their language of how they respond etc.

I am amazed people still think in terms of good and evil and friends and enemies. There are NO such concepts in international geopolitics.

USA is doing exactly what Iran and Pakistan are doing: pursuing their own national interests, as best as possible. That is all.

Iran has pursued its own national interests, and it has come to this point that is is under direct attack, without a lot of support from any other country. Geopolitically, that is an abysmal failure, no matter what divine or regious or moral cover one may wish to give it. Now, it must bear the consequences and try to mitigate the situation as best as possible.

All is not lost at this point, however, and compromises are always better for outcomes, for all sides.

(Similarly, Pakistan will be okay if it plays its cards better than what Iran has done. But that discussion belongs in some other thread, not here.)

It is not about good and evil, but realpolitik and national interest. Everyone know this war is not in accordance with international law, but no one wants to sabotage their country's interests by taking on the guy in the White House. In this situation, the best option for most is to stay on the sidelines and keep their mouth shut unless one if forced to make a choice. Even vishwaguru Modi ji knows that.
