Imagine flying CAS missions over Iran while having to fly from Jordan. They would have to conduct in flight refueling then fly for hours just to get into position. loiter for a bit doing close air support and head back, conduct inflight refueling again to make it back to Jordan. Think of the toll that takes on the pilot and airframe. They have to fly 3-4 hours+ both ways just to do a limited CAS. They might not even be in position when they are needed.

Trump's 9 PM EST (NYC) time speech was a total Nothing Burger! He basically repeated the same things he has been saying for past few weeks. And I dare say, this 'speech' was some Plan B Speech because his original original Plan A Speech was disapproved by Netanyahu.
Even Trump wouldn't be wasting Americans' time with a speech like this after building up the hype.

I saw it as the speech he should have given before starting the war or at least after the war started 32 days back, not that it is a substitute for proper Congressional action. He did gin up a charge sheet starting from Beirut bombing, Cole bombing, "Death to America/Israel", October 7th etc., He made an OK attempt at arguing an Iran with nuke would have led to apocalypse. I think at least a few of the listeners who were not well schooled in the history of the region may feel convinced (to support the war).

He did not say anything about ground troops or about action to take out enriched Uranium etc., By omission, we may think it is not in the works as it was being speculated. For what it is worth, if one has to go by his words (not advisable), it will be a continuation of air war for a few more weeks and then may reach a low intensity 'maintenance' mode.
