This war is getting too stressful. I'm starting to think that maybe it's time to take a break. lol

I just hope that a ground invasion of our southern territories will never happen because based on what we saw today, we most likely will never get them back.

Its logical considering sheer size of iran compared to it’s population… easy to have such defenseless pockets…. But considering it was border area we should have seen some sort of killed rescue operators

Not discounting Iran's achievement in relation to shooting down the jet, that's huge.

But looks like a lot of people would be wondering how the US got the pilot/pilots out from inland Iran. There will at least be a lot to learn for Iran, out of this and hopefully next time any sigh belligerent pilots will be captured alive.

Wait a second here, any US rescue mission will throw massive resources at this (we saw some), C-130 Gunships, aircover, attack choppers, they will throw EVERYTHING at this. Not getting both pilots is not a disaster. Pakistan got Abhi as troops could move freely and our airspace was secure.
US will have been practising for this scenario for years. Unless we know more facts around the circumstances I personally find it hard to criticise the Iranians too much

Unless they could produce hundreds of 5th generation fighters within a decade using export licenses, I don't think any amount of fighters was the right call. Overall, I don't see much too wrong with the IRGC/IRGCAF's approach. If you know that the adversaries you're going to go up against eventually will have an overwhelming advantage in the aircraft department, swing your efforts into other directions, like missile cities, decentralized/cheap AD, drones.

Yup, unless if you were building an Arial combat force along the lines and scope of PLAAF you'd have a small chance against combined NATO/US airforces, anything less would have been cut to size in the first days of conflict.

It was the right decision by the Iranian, probably taken after desert storm mauling of the vaunted Iraqi AF by US/NATO, that investing any amount of money/resources into the AF would have been an exercise in futility. However, it did leave them with near zero defensive capability.

Not criticizing at all. I'm really impressed with them shooting down the Jet and then attacking the rescue Blackhawk as well.

What I'm saying, is that regardless of what happened, it will at least be an opportunity for them to learn for the next time.

For now the shooting of the jet is a big achievement and hopefully that will hamper the attacks form the aggressors as well, since they have faced a clear setback now.

Completely agree. It was in a remote area where was no military targets to protect. Those CSAR operation aircrafts are very well prepared with extra armor and lot of electronics to deceive MANPADs.

Don´t blame Iranian air defense that much. They shoot down dozens of MALE drones and even stealth cruise missiles and like bonus hitting an F35 and shooting down an F15. Not to mention all enemy aircrafts smashed like flies in Saudi Arabia and other places.

I think the balance is positive!.

We need to step back a little bit and see the situation

This is a rural area with barely any defenses, there is no way IRGC will teleport to the exact right place and angle to shoot a missile at the rescue team, and even with that, they still managed to damage an helicopter and fire some MANPADs

The islands and other probably US invasion entries are locked and loaded, mined, filled with ambush ADs, like a medieval castle before a siege

Iran still managed to down an F-15E and probably kill or capture one of the pilots

I can guarantee you that a ground invasion will not look like that at all with C-130 and Black Hawks flying this low. Add to this the artillery, drone and missile fire the ground troops will be subjected to, also add the local armed population uniting against the invaders

Also Iran is not fighting Toilet Cloggers, this will be a very complex situation but I'm willing to bet on Iran in case of a ground invasion

This rescue operation proved that our coordination on the ground is even worse than we thought. This whole thing took several hours and we couldn't even get there in time!

This actually reminded me of our rescue operation for our president and foreign minister. It took us nearly 2 days to finally find that they were dead with the help of Turkey.

Iran's comms are severely degraded. Ground units are most likely operating individually with very little real time info and what comms are in place are probably compromised by the Israelis.

Providing a fully coordinated and organised operation against any land invasion could prove to be very difficult.

This could had easily been downed by a MANPAD

It either means this province was 'softened' by US Air Force, and if so, Iran may have trouble defending the Kharg Island if it's unable to secure it's coast

Or Iran wants to remain calculated due to negotiations in the background which are ongoing

They could have gained a bargaining chip if they took 1 or 2 pilots to a safe location elsewhere in Iran but they had to search immediately if they knew it was shot down

I guess they didn't know it was shot down and Iranian forces couldn't communicate that effectively between each other. Which is why I suspect Israel had a hand in this.

If you know it's shot down send people immediately to recover the pilot it's a bargaining chip at negotiations table.

But that's easy for us to say. Trump could just say give me back the pilot or I bomb a power plant.
