Iran has been a punching bag in diplomacy for far too long.
Countries should learn that we have red lines and when they cross them, there will be diplomatic consequences in response to their action, if we can't do more.

You need to forgive my scepticism here, but what we are seeing is US initially down playing any losses/damages like with the E-3 only for us to find out later things were much worse that US initially reported. I am betting that happens this time too....

So this shot down pilot was up 7000ft mountain, and the rescuers were dropped somewhere nearby by and had a firefight with someone, and are now trekking down with an injured man. When a helicopter landing near by would have been better.

Yup, said it once and will say it again. US was thinking this will be a one week job, minimum equipment losses and regime change. It is now week 5 into this thing.

The assets lost are not just expensive, but many irreplacable or no longer in production. At this rate 5 more weeks and you are looking at losses that will really impact US capability in Europe and the Pacific in the short and medium term. US has the money and resiliance to make up the losses but will take a few years.

If China decides to take Taiwan in two weeks and this is still ongoing US will simply not be able to face them
