Exactly this. The key point that Tehran actually fully understands but failed to deliver. There will be other opportunities no doubt.

They're playing it cool right now, but that's just optics. When the material loss count climbs and they start cannibalizing their strategic reserves, that brave front is going to crumble real fast and Trump administration will start having even more pressure than they already are.

So this shot down pilot was up 7000ft mountain, and the rescuers were dropped somewhere nearby by and had a firefight with someone, and are now trekking down with an injured man. When a helicopter landing near by would have been better.

Yup, said it once and will say it again. US was thinking this will be a one week job, minimum equipment losses and regime change. It is now week 5 into this thing.

The assets lost are not just expensive, but many irreplacable or no longer in production. At this rate 5 more weeks and you are looking at losses that will really impact US capability in Europe and the Pacific in the short and medium term. US has the money and resiliance to make up the losses but will take a few years.

If China decides to take Taiwan in two weeks and this is still ongoing US will simply not be able to face them

I think he is pissed as we lost so many assets and optics are not looking with the pictures of downed C130s and MH6... Most Likely reminded him "operation Eagle claw"
