Iran - Israel/US War: Israel-US declare war on Iran, Iran responds

There seems to be the thinking that yapping "Death to America/Israel" brought this war. That is not true. That slogan has been in use from 47 years with no major reaction from America/Israel. Only when HEU crossed 60% (and/or October 7, 2023 events) did Israel wake up, smell the coffee and went about the business of preventing further deaths. Words may be irritating but do not usually lead to major wars.
Nothing changed in 2023, it's the same Israel that has been excessively violent and oppressive against Palestinians, Lebanese and everyone else in the region for the past 100 years. When anyone fights back , the Israelis cry foul.

Given the current situation, I pessimistically believe that this war will continue.

On April 15, the U.S. Congress voted on a bill to limit Trump's war powers. The Senate vote result was 47 in favor, 52 against, and one Republican senator abstained, so the bill did not pass.

This is the fourth time the Senate has rejected a bill proposed by Democrats to limit the president's war powers since the U.S. launched military action against Iran at the end of February.

I'm hoping the Senate changes hands in November.

Lol, so much for the democracy beacon of the world. The mad orange man so elected is literally free to do whatever he wants to wage any wars and he is accountable to no one. How ironic, they always complain about the dictatorship in China.

Iranian friends here need to realize that there is no stopping this isreali war against Iran. Yes their will be pauses, but no permanent solution. Iranians need to take full advantage of the break in the hostilities and rearm themselves to the best of their ability.

Reminds me of a media event: So Margarete Thatcher became a successful UK Prime Minister in the 80s and in a media event, reporters told her something like 'You are not that good. It is your advisors who are good'. To which she replied 'That maybe but who chose those advisors?'
President Trump has no excuses to make for not only this war but all of his actions in his first term and also in his second term including quite possibly alienating Canada for good. You know the old 'The Buck Stops Here' adage.
If Trump is wise, he may get out of this war with Pakistan's help to declare a fake victory for America while he would be genuinely conceding to Iran in the background--kind of like the Kennedy forcing the Soviets to supposedly backoff during the Cuban Missile Crisis.
IMO, there is no doubt that Iran has come out ahead and I am not surprised by that. You can see my posts before this conflict started in this thread.

Nothing to do with HEU.
I believe the door to this war opened when the Gazans attacked Israel in October 2023 and the resistance by the Gazans, Hezbollah and the Assad regime greatly diminished by the combined NATO/Israeli actions. The fall of those three resistances happened within an amazingly short period of just a few months right after Trump won the Nov. 2024 elections.
In short, the Iranian 'First Line of Defense', to quote Trita Parsi, fell very quickly and Iran itself became vulnerable and Netanyahu even said 'a unique opportunity' in early 2025 with his man Trump in office. Finally a total Israeli stooge in power who would directly attack Iran--and Netanyahu wasn't wrong because in June 2025 America launched the first frontal attack on Iran.
The HEUs had been around for quite a while before early 2025. I believe it was the combination of Trump as the POTUS along with Netanyahu as the PM at the same time which caused this war and maybe may cause even more wars in the Middle East.

Lol out of context completely. This is arab and Omani tradition. The sultan wants to escort the guest back to the door, hence he is avoiding the handshake so the meeting cannot conclude, but the guest (Emarati) in this case insists to shake hands so he doesn’t have to walk back to the gate as he is elder. This is similar to Arabs/Pakistanis fighting to pay bill for food in restaurants for their friends.

When Congress fails to put roadblocks on the war, it automatically implies they support it, even if passively. At least they do not oppose it vigorously. The vote was quite close, so it is not a full-throated support. Like for example, in 1991, 2001 or 2003.

While there is no way to prove it, I believe it would have been much, much harder (not impossible) for Netanyahu to make the sale in February 2026 based on events from October 2023. Opposite is also likely true. HEU alone without October 2023 would have been much harder sell. It is like fuel and oxygen; both are needed for an explosion.
