And that is the crazy world we live in today... Pakistan needs oil, Iran got it... In return Pakistan canbe bread basket for all of Mideast for a fraction of investment elsewhere. All of that canbe done locally and bilaterally... the line canbe skipped!
It will be offtopic to discuss why Pakistan for decades chosen not to get the oil and gas from an Iran which was right next to Pakistan. In cost-benefit analyses, Pakistan would lose due to the American sanctions. Such analyses have been present for decades despite whoever was in power in Pakistan.
But it will be very interesting to see if and to what extent Trump is going to tolerate Pakistan providing its outlets and inlets for the Iranian / foreign goods; we know Pakistan just very recently opened six of its venues for trade with Iran. Pakistan is stretching the envelope like never before.
