I think it was good that Irans ground forces didn't invest much in classical ground warfare systems like tanks and the like....it seems to me that also Artesh is slowly giving up the old way of ground fighting....drones changed everything

It will be offtopic to discuss why Pakistan for decades chosen not to get the oil and gas from an Iran which was right next to Pakistan. In cost-benefit analyses, Pakistan would lose due to the American sanctions. Such analyses have been present for decades despite whoever was in power in Pakistan.
But it will be very interesting to see if and to what extent Trump is going to tolerate Pakistan providing its outlets and inlets for the Iranian / foreign goods; we know Pakistan just very recently opened six of its venues for trade with Iran. Pakistan is stretching the envelope like never before.

Artesh has to go on ground because their duty is ensuring protection to Iranian borders, and that is entirely different fighting field, with incomparable operational risks and opponents... IRGC is neo-persian imperial fist, that keeps Iranian integrity far beyond Iranian borders, which is nothing new, being unable to make Iran safe island, they are forced to spread their sphere of influence across the region, keeping the Plateau, heartland, out of war zones...
