Happy to see Egypt slong it out with Israel and both sides lose many men and equipment.

Maybe there is some truth to the Israeli 'Samson Option'. There is not only a secular, national will to survive in Israel, like all nations have, but there is the Messianic zeal for the End Times in Israel and its Christian Zionists like Mike Huckabee.
While I don't see how Israel can survive the dangers it is facing and creating more and more, I don't see how the Israelis are not going to bring down the region when they would face the inevitable.
PS. Ironically, as much as the Islamic world is accused of 'radicals' by the West, I don't see any major desire to engineer the End Times / Armageddon / Qayamat.

Every bit of meddling that is instigated is hosted regionally by someone... either dumb, aloof or bought.
The trade routes and corridors need to be revived... Pakistan has people with names of Iranian cities and who know when some of them came... Shirazi, Isfahani etc. Others with Turk ancestors Chugtai, Beg etc... peppered with Arabs, Afghans, Indians...
Pre colonial world had movement of goods, services and people... post or neo colonial does not... people are stuck and bound financially to the same power centers... who've devised currencies of trade as their... and theirs alone. One where they control the tap... prosperity and prospects... sanction or cut off whosoever... attack with impunity... with laws in tow... ready to be amended as needed. And if not ... well who cares.
