But they fail while launching or transiting from rockets launcher to cruise engine, not in final flight phase where all guidance, engine and moving parts worked well before reaching enemy airspace, so I credit the shootdown.

They also fail in cruise phase due to jamming and malfunctioning terrain computer or engine problems.

It’s what happens when you mass produce any type of complicated missile engine. Quality and control cannot catch every manufacturing defect.
