Iran must have a trump (forgive the pun) or two which they can play at this point - the tempo for now seems to be in the favor of the US. Perhaps if enough pressure is applied on Iran at SoH they resort to diverting attention by activities through their partners to harass shipping lanes in bab-el-mandeb? I don't believe that's ever been the case. You don't spend billions building bases and even more effort staffing them just to abandon them in a conflict. The bases have been degraded but they remain staffed with US personnel. You can't run a war just from the air and neither from Florida.

It is possible that some US forces have been moved to more secret locations in the Gulf.

Also - the idea is to have read every aspect of how Trump works and how he has run deals all his life - and know when your dispersed/devolved leadership strategy works and where it leads to scuttling the potential to get a good hand.
