Trump knows how to play the Iranians. He can come back to the MoU and wait a few months maybe even longer then rip it up again. And Iran won’t be able to do a damn thing. Iran doesn’t have the resolve to fight an existential war. It’s been hollowed out.

No one has the answer.

But the picture is clear.

Iran cannot reach an agreement because the United States is actually seeking capitulation.

Economic pressure is the only viable path to tearing Iran apart from within.

The United States lacks the military power to overthrow Mojtaba.

My view—unlike yours—is that Iran cannot allow a military escalation to spiral out of control. Aside from the fact that it would cost thousands of lives and result in the country's total destruction (I need only point to Trump's statements), Iran lacks the capacity to bring the war to a close.

That is where nuclear weaponry comes into play.

I believe Iran will be free to escalate—much like Yemen does—once it possesses a retaliatory capability equal to that of its enemy (Israel). It could then progressively escalate the conflict until the United States strictly forbids Israel from using nuclear weapons.
