Unfortunately, Iran is following the same fate as the Assad regime, which opened the country to terrorists and was ultimately destroyed by turning weak kneed and compromising after achieving a military victory; by accepting the continuation of the US blockade and coexistence with the enemy, it has sealed its own doom.
It is only natural for anyone capable of learning from experience to feel a strong sense of alarm regarding the current situation. In both cases, despite having secured a military victory, they accepted a false ceasefire before fighting to the end to fully consolidate that victory; as a result, they now face destruction through a blockade.

The only reasonable conclusion is that Iranian politicians are thoroughly compromised. They have even shut down the parliament. Absent a military take over of the government it's safe to assume the current attrition will continue.
