There has to a be a moment in the near future where China makes a move strong enough to signal the start of a multipolar world order with itself as a 1:1 peer with the U.S in terms of power projection. This could be a chance if China makes the first move and breaks the privilege that the Americans have enjoyed so far.

Sadly I think this is too early for a big event like that to happen. We probably won't see such a move until we pass the next 5-10 years first...

Opportunities like this conflict don’t come everyday. Now chose doesn’t want to get involved if it can help it, but today it could be Iran and tomorrow it could be Chinese SLOCs from the Middle East and afterwards China itself.

It might be time for a Chinese “Peacekeeping mission”, akin to the UN force that went to Korea from 1950-1953. If Iran falls, it would be a vector against China from the one direction it currently has secure.

Iran is a loud mouth but it is fighting the best technology of the western and the combined might of the west, and it continues to stand and deal devastating blows despite the hits it took.
