Iran if let loose today by world powers will become one of the top-10 economies of the world naturally in 6-8 years by HC assets alone. I do not agree with you that If IRI is gone, Iran will be allowed to reclaim its spot in the world this easily. World has seen that decades of crippling sanctions could not deter IRI from its stupid policies or from selling its oil or building a very efficient military industrial complex inside Iran (Missiles, SLVs, IADS, drones, Navy etc). Iran is already showing signs of chaos post Khamenei where atleast two political factions are clearly pitting themselves against each other. West did not allow post USSR Russia to rise up freely either. Post IRI Iran will also face same challenge where it will not be trusted for years and possibly decades. New administrations post Khamenei will need to play very very smart and secretive about their intentions of rebuilding Iran instead of opening their mouth on Israel and US 24/7 or petting any more useless Arab Armies. Khamenei has done permanent damage to Iran, whoever takes over after this will start from a position of disadvantage.

I am extremely proud to be Persian. The IR was established by the lefties who cherished the Islamic-Marxist ideologies. It had nothing to do with Persian values, but Islam and Marxism. This is where their ridiculous support of Palestine come from.

Hmm, Iran can choose the path of giving up nukes and resistance to the West, and if it is going to follow Egypt/Pakistan path of military govt, well that usually means Iran becomes a client state of someone as well. Maybe Iran could try being client state of China alongwith West and playing one off the other, something Pakistan is trying to do or just be client of the West, like Egypt.

But in my view, biggest and oldest problem Iran faces is that Israel/GCC, most Arabs actually, fear a strong and economically prosperous Iran and are secretly very happy with the Iran-West struggle and the resulting economic sanctions. I think part of the regime change plan that Israel admitted to be pursuing during the 12-day battle was to replace the hardline core of the regime with more West-appeasing reformists. Everybody thought that Reza Pahlavi was the one they wanted, but I believe they wanted people like Zarif to take over after their "regime change". Maybe Israel wanted Reza Pahlavi, but I think the US has always been more practical and interested in people with actual power in the current system.

If you look at the situation from 2018 onwards, they removed Soleimani, then assassinated Khamenei's possible successor, then they went after the Axis of Resistance and Bashar al-Assad and Nasrallah, then decapitated the chain of command in the IRGC, and they haven't stopped yet. One by one, they physically removed each and every one of the hardliners close to Khamenei that would stand against the reformist take over in Iran. They also weakened the IRGC and Basij more than anybody else during the 12-day battle.

It's still an ongoing process in my opinion. They're moving forward, probably not very fast, but they are. They probably think this is the most cost-efficient way to take control of the country without engaging in a long-lasting war. They've made a lot of progress in the last 7 years alone.
