Pakistan at its heart is a far more conservative society than Iran is. Whatever geopolitical achievements have been achieved by Pakistan are due to its resilient & patient nature, imbued by Islamic culture. Pakistanis & Afghanis are by & large Iranian peoples by race, yet us Pakistanis & Afghans are far more content & confident in our skin than Iranians are. You only have to look around the Pakistani & Afghan diaspora in west & compare it to Iranian diaspora in the west. That too with a great deal of interaction with the western world by Pakistanis at large. We had to suffer the indignation of being colonised by the Brits but they never got us to accept modernity in the form of females opting for Skirts over shalwar.
Yes, Pakistanis and Afghanis are more comfortable in their own skin. Unfortunately it's sad to say, but many Iranians have the same mentality as Indians, Koreans, and to a lesser extent, Japanese; white worship mentality.
Now you are a Pakistani. You never lived under the Islamic Republic in Iran. Your society is more conservative and it regulates itself. Pakistan has a relatively secular democratic government. You don't have morality police harassing women for hijab. You don't have government dictated morality. It's that simple.
Iran is not an example of a healthy society. This stupid regime pushed young people away from hijab. Nobody, NOBODY likes it when government tries to enter their private life and tell them how to live, what to wear. They used to send teenage Basijis to bother women for hijab. You know what happened to them? People would get angry and beat them up. They get their asses kicked all the time. Then some disgruntled basiji extremist types got upset and decided to throw acid in women's faces; totally ruined their lives.
Whatever way Iranians need to change their gharbzadegi mentality, I don't know. But what I do know is this government is sure getting it wrong.
Living in a pro Islamic anti U.S. government doesn't mean sh**. I have lived in Japan. Apart from Tokyo, all the other cities, women there are modestly dress, no tattoos, no disgusting nose piercings. They also live under one of the most pro U.S. governments on earth.
Now compare to holy Iran:
-Mullahs stealing money,
-Mullahs preaching hatred
-Corruption rampant, incompetence in every level of government
-Country infested with mossad
-Riots in the streets every few years, young people are miserable
-Brain drain
-Ecological disaster
-Economic mismanagement
-Population becoming less and less religious as the years go by
There is good governance, and then there is ass backwards terrible governance. I think it's clear which one Iran has.
