I think the US attack plan is to completely destroy Iranian radars and air defenses and sink majority of its naval assets. Then leave it to Israel to do what it wants.

Israel would then be bombarded for months by Iran and its allies, with missiles falling on Israel from everywhere.

In the 12-day war, part of Iran's defensive systems were destroyed (or jammed) by local Mossad spies, which is why Israel managed to kill some scientists and military personnel on the first and second days. In the following days, Israel was heavily hit, even though Iran used GPS (which is from the US). Now Iran uses a Chinese system, which is even worse for Israel.

When we look at how much air assets are being flown in , how many EW aircraft, and the photos of damages to the missile staging areas , it validates the fact that Iran’s AD was back up within 12 hours at almost full capacity.

This article is talking about an evolution Misagh-3. Sahand should be a kind of vehicle with remote operated launchers and passive seekers (like Majid-08 but shorter range AD-06?).

So all in all there are 3 short range passive TELARs, AD-08 Majid, AD-10 Azarakash and finally AD-06 Sahand?.

I doubt it. So many made up stories recently....At least in the field of man pads, its can't be true.

With 500m u can get roughly 10-12 Su 35 with A2A missiles more effective in critical engagement.

A lots of types of MANPADS Iran makes locally, aside of that short range mobile SAM

Clearly not as capable, if Iran has turned to Russia for Manpads and glorified Humvees.

Military helicopters, EW systems, and Fighter jets are one thing. But blowing half a billion dollars for manpads, when we desperately needed S-400/S-500 the past few years is stupidity.

If you have 500M to blow on manpads. You have a few billion to blow on competent defense systems. China doesn’t see like a good option since Iran doesn’t have experience using Chinese air defense systems. But it has experience with Russian Pantsir (from its time in Syria), BUK, S-300 and others.

So any emergency systems the Russians can deliver to plug gaps would help.

But sadly the one time S-300 order was very stupid on the part of Iran. It needed to be followed up immediately with an S-400 after Solemani assassination and even S-500 if Russia would be willing to supply it. Also Iran should have poached Chinese and Russian military engineers to help finish Bavar/Arman. There is proof that Iran has or attempted to poach Russian nuclear experts back in the 90s and early 2000s I believe.

Anyway. It’s zero hour. But if a deal is struck and war averted. Iran should spend the next 10 years rebuilding its air defense systems.

That’s not it works. Air defense rings are an onion. Those systems you mentioned are inner layers of the onion, they cannot replace the outer layers.

Manpads aren’t shooting down F-35s or even F-16s. They don’t work. HZ and Hamas had manpads from Russia/China and never once managed to hit a single Israeli jet. Houthi’s had limited success against Arab pilots flying stock configurations.

Sure theoretically if a fighter jet is dive bombing like Russian jets did in Ukraine you could maybe hit one. But American jets have the world’s most advanced targeting pods and are dropping PGMs from 20KM+ away at high altitude. Manpads are borderline useless against modern well equipped fighter jets.

And SHORADs struggle as we saw Turkey and Israel both take apart Syria’s pantsirs in separate conflicts during the war. Most SHORADs have ranges less than 15KM. So enemy can just pick them off well before the operator knows what’s happening.

The only thing that makes sense about these manpads is to give them to IRGC speedboat crews to take down helicopters/drones in the Persian Gulf or give them to tactical crews to hit slow moving drones/helicopters near the borders and key missile sites.

I doubt Iran would be dumb enough to use them on stopping USAF jets.
