Iranian Air Defence Systems | News and Discussions

Makes you wonder what the air defense situation in 2006 was like.

I find it hard to believe that Iran’s air defense network performed worse than Assad’s and considerably worse than Iraq 2003.

The only explanation is that reliance on Windows OS or some other technical issue means that that large amounts of Iran’s air defense nodes were taken offline via EW or even viruses. Maybe in the coming years it will leak what they did. Just find it hard to believe that this many systems performed so poorly.

Even the capital Tehran was using AA guns for the bulk of defense.
Syria is much smaller and less mountainous and had concentrated AD rings

something Iran clearly never had

A short video of the SHORAD Azarakash SAM system.

The radar would be eventually counterproductive as any Aircraft could detect, jam and even destroy de vehicle. But I assume it would work only for UAVs which are considerable smaller and less detectable and would need additional seeker for locating the small UAV.

But the most interesting It is the small size of the vehicle and It is operable from distance. That would save crews.

The IR seeker seems to be different (previous versión was thicker).

May just be fake news, but posting anyway in this thread:

So what happens if USN/USAF fires 40 LACMs at such assets each or even more ?

Against regional countries its effective but won't work against US. People need to wake the F up before making scenarios against US.

Whst a foolish statement....let put it in capital letters so you can understand.
FOOLISH STATEMENT
The question was:
"So what happens if USN/USAF fires 40 LACMs at such assets each or even more ?"
If you don't like my answer, that is your problem. Perhaps you don't like Israel to be destroyed?

I request that you make an effort to avoid provocative and insulting posts, and try to post with respect to people you disagree with. you can make your point in other ways without personal attacks etc.

I make this request to everyone, and you are not the only one, as I don't want to issue bans for Iranians.

I asked him a straight up question. Where in that exchange was I being rude?

FOOLISH STATEMENT"

That is not rude though and does not solicit a response, right?

it is not relevant to the topic to ask him if he wants Israel to be destroyed

lets avoid unnecessary comments

No matter how you slice it, Iran's air defense performance was far worse than Syria's or Yemen's.
In fact, even Israel must have been surprised by Iran's lack of resistance.
This is because Syria's air defenses had been significantly upgraded in the years before the Assad regime collapsed, making jet incursions impossible and achieving a high interception rate for cruise missiles.
Israel had resorted to heavy use of ALBM and glide bombs to penetrate that AD.
Iran, over 1000km from Israel, should have been a far more difficult target, yet it proved an extremely easy one.
This was due to the Iranian government's persistent avoidance of conflict, resulting in a severe lack of combat experience,
and the fatal infiltration of spies within the upper echelons.
The IRGC learned the hard way that war is not decided solely by superior equipment. Iran is now paying for Khamenei's mistake of agreeing to an early ceasefire after just 12 days.
Following the senseless loss of 3,000 lives to US backed terrorism, it is regrettable that if US bombing escalates in earnest, tens of thousands of civilian lives could easily be lost.
What Iran needs is a government with unwavering resolve, the elimination of spies, and real combat experience. Without these, the AD will not function.

This is an alternative take, but its on point in some relevant ways and is a very needed perspective. It is true- Iran can't keep designing deadly and beautiful military merchandise and supplying proxies without being actually willing and ready for war with US and Israel since yesterday.
