Iranian Air Defence Systems | News and Discussions

Given the degree of combat, where the USA/Israel has destroyed close to $300billion of infrastructure as per Iranian clams, the return for the USA is high. Most of what has been lost, has been designed to be disposable anyway, ie drones/UAV etcs.
When you look at the total cost to the US military, this isn't a simple cost-benefit analysis. I see your angle: the US is using cheap hardware, and they are winning. Wrong!
Let's do a comparison. First, which US adversary has shot down so many US aircraft in the span of 10 months? If you look at the chart, 12 F-15s are listed at $100 million+ a rattle. You now have 67-70 MQ9s at $30 million dollars each. We have not even begun to scratch the surface on THAAD AN/TPY-2 Radars, AN/FPS-132 early-warning radar systems, and Patriot Radars. Then you have the thousands of interceptors at $4 million a piece, ground radars, bases, and the cost of operating the blockade, which, by their own admission, is $100 million plus a day. Iranians can pour concrete. Most of the buildings were empty.

I have not even begun to discuss the global economic cost and the damage to the economy here at home.
