fair point but we also see that RQ-4 / MQ-4 fly higher than that and are widely used in Yemen recently and not shot down (as far as I remember RQ-4 has never been downed over Yemen)It’s fine as it is.
MALE drones don’t go higher than 35,000 at best and many operate much lower due to sensors. So this missile is for that class of drones and lower.
HALE is irrelevant, not that many countries operate HALEs in large numbers. HALE is mostly used for recon and SIGINT.
Increasing altitude to that part would require much stronger engine which would require burning alot more fuel to climb (and quickly) and almost certainly reduce your range to less than 20KM and endurance time in the air. Not to mention make the weapons platform much more expensive for little added utility.
Not many ground launched ADs or even A2A missiles can go to 60,000 feet without being costly.
even in Lebanon, Hezbollah only managed to down 1-2 Hermes 900 drones
