Iranian Air Defence Systems | News and Discussions

TEHRAN, Apr. 06 (MNA) – The Iranian Army Air Defense has revealed a video footage of its forces monitoring the flight of a US B-2 aircraft.
If true, it is embarrassing.

It's on par with detecting a submarine...those who know, know.

Not enough to shoot it down.
Yes. Not enough to even narrow it down to a close enough space to lock on it.
A strong enough search radar blip that datalinked tracking assets now know where to beam. Even stealth airplanes give larger than their frontal RCS when they move in air and angles change so blips happen. Considering the Iranian IADS network of OTHs+other long-range search assets, this is not something out of the ordinary.

It becomes easier if library data is available characteristic to airframes. Iranian IADS has adapted to this in recent times.

My words on the subject from IRIAF thread

"Considering how much investment Iran has done in its IADS over the years (from overhauling MIM-23 to putting Datalinked TVC'ed HIMADS in export exhibitions in 12-14 years), I see it happening that a target specific profile library of stealth fighters or any fighters operating in and around Iran is being made and upgraded every passing day. Even modern tracking algorithms (lets say a S-300 PMU2) lock on targets after taking certain number of cues from wide low energy search beams then target is filtered through identification protocols like IFF or flight signature etc. This is a Search-Cue-Track-Filter-Lock mechanism.

RF-DNA library means AESA-FCR like Najm or Meraj just need few blips being matched in library and tracking algorithm already can jump to locking, knowing the target characteristics prior to identifying it. Suddenly an unsuspecting enemy is getting its MAWS alarmed because its being chased by a bunch of killers like Sayyad-4 chasing at 5-6 Mach while pulling G's because of TVC. Cant be jammed because of on-board ECCM, cant be dodged because it gets automatic target upgrades if it receives jamming signals. Even low RCS or stealth assets give blips when they maneuver in sky because RCS is not a constant value, its variable depending upon beam angle to the body of the aircraft. Other techniques to hide, like terrain masking or Low altitude penetration can also be negated with this technique.

So where IRIAF is a abandoned force, IRIADF is constantly stepping up its game through real time battle experience. Passive sensors of Iranian IADS see F-22, F-35, F-18E/F, F-15SE, Rafale, EF-2000, F-16C flying just KM away from its airspace daily. More dynamic data, more the IADS learns."
I first thought the person meant that Iran's air defense systems would allow us to detect B2/F22 for shooting them down.
Sure, EW radars can give you an estimate of where these jet fighters are in an approximate location (a cubic voxel with edge lengths of about 100m-1km) But this estimate is only good enough to know how many aircrafts are attacking you or scramble your fighter jets to find and intercept the enemy. We have no fighter jets to intercept the enemy. So, the only thing it does for us is give us a heads up, which is the main purpose of EW radars. That's why I simply agreed with the poster and accepted it.

15 Khordad anti-ballistic? The new model has not been unveiled. 15 Khordad is the killer of Israeli rockets!

A while ago, a satellite image of a 15 Khordad battery in one of the western cities of the country was published, which succeeded in destroying Israeli missiles over Iraq during the Israeli attack on Isfahan, but considering the distance between this 15 Khordad and the place where the missile debris fell, we realized that there is an error of about 100 kilometers and the range of the 15 Khordad does not reach it.

Paying closer attention to the photo, we realized that the radar located near the 15 Khordad is neither the Najm 804 radar nor the Joshan, which means that the 15 Khordad has been equipped with a new fire control radar and a defensive missile with a range of +200 kilometers. Of course, unofficial sources had previously made this claim.

We must wait until this 15 Khordad model is unveiled and its specifications are made public.photo_2025-04-11_07-49-38.jpg

3 Meraj-4 radars have been identified in satellite imagery deployed across Iran

Meraj-4 is a S-band AESA radar with 450km range capable of detecting targets travelling up to mach 3 and with an altitude between 100m and 25km

It was originally unveiled as part of the Bavar-373 battery but it seems to be deployed independently of the batteries now

Max altitude is 28 Km for M-4 radar.

Why would they? It wasn't a mistake. It's part of their propaganda for people who believe that Iran has super weapons that are super stronger than nuclear weapons.

then we have iranians here posting about magical plasma weapons and nuclear submarines and they are really convinced about it with no evidence ... not a good situation
