No no.

They're still losing MQ9 reapers and Predators.

The tactic It is simpler. They send tens of those MQM170 expendable drones and when they enter well inside Iranian airspace they understand there is no SAM systems active and send the Trojan horse (MQ9).

So the better It is let pass the MQM170 and just shoot down reapers and predators when they feel safe passage.

This happens when Irán has passive SAM systems and they have no idea about the Air Defenses systems.

Two things are obvious:
1- Iran has recalibrated AD . Unlike what you may think, besides stand off munitions, majority of the strikes inside Iran were accomplished by UAVs .
2- The air escort that the tankers are receiving are from these drones.
It seems that the order was given to mow the lawn.

I said several years ago that Iran should have gotten S-400/S-500 because their S-300 order was too small for a country the size of Iran and not enough redundancy against the might of the USAF and IAF.

Let’s see if this deal ever actually happens. Iran will also need S-500, TOR systems (SHORAD), and other stop gap systems to rebuild their IADS quickly until the next gen of Iranian air defenses that rely on passive and IR/IO detection can be built.
