R-73, short range IR AAM. It's maximum range in ideal conditions is only 30 km, it's not a useful missile. The oldest AIM-120 has a range of 75 km and newer missiles like the Meteor have a range of 200. These MiGs won't even be able to get close to any aircraft to fire them off.

Remember Mig29UB has no radar, and therefore the only missile capability is just IR ones. That is why their utility in Air Defense is so limited.

Iranian airforce need to start with capable trainers like L-15B, and than move to fighter jets like J-10C or SU-30/35. But in my opinion, its not worth buying a fighter jet in 2026 that doesn't have an aesa radar. So it leave you with J-10C only. And those who saying china wont sell, are not right. Iran haven't yet asked for it. And iran is one of tje largest exporter of fuel to China. I dont think china will say no for J-10C , which it slowed down producing for its own needs. CHINA will also dont have any objection in selling iran KJ-500 because they already have more capable version of it in operation. KJ-500 is not top of the line aewacs platform for China anymore.

Along with that, 2-3 airforce bases close to 100 km of Afghanistan border so that they are far away from the harmuz and US bases in ME. This will ensure the survival and operations of iranian airforce in any future conflict.

I'm working in semi governmental organization in Iran , bein in inner cycle is the only way up .... I'm not , but they can't even accept it , so they halved my salary in middle of war ...
