Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

It seems like China as Russia will try hard to keep China in the defense partnership loop post Trump enforced Ukraine-Russia ceasefire. Also, China for whatever reason keeps chasing Russian planes of the same generation they manufacture at home. They imported SU-27UBK, SU-30MKK/MK2, SU-35S all when local flankers were in active production.

Iran has a slim but existent chance. Yak-130 have arrived and some semi-reliable OSINT sources have been claiming of SU-35S CKD arrival as well. If Russia has actually provided its most potent fighter jets to Iran below the 5th generation already then jumping from 4+ to 5th generation does not seem like a big stretch.

So if Iran has truly received the su-35s kits, how long will it take to assemble these?

Months ? I have no idea.

It's just a rumor but by serious OSINTs. I refuse to believe in it until I see evidence coming out of Shahrokhi AB. If its true we might see 1 squadron early next year.

Partisan (or was it Meshkat?) claims months. I don’t believe that. I’ve posted on this before.

If indeed it’s in the order of months, it means Iranian pilots, engineers, and technicians have been training for quite a long time. Not to mention an assembly line must be stood up already.. Even with the presence of Russian advisors it strikes me as a tall order.

We’ll see when we’ll see.

It’s actually not China, but Algeria that is rumored to be getting 12 SU-57.

it has not sense for China purchasing Su57. J20 gives them a real stealth ability for their fighter fleet. The ongoing final tests of J35 are giving to PLAAF/PLANAF another stealth vector capable of high speed interceptions and multirole air to surface capability. Su57 while being a high speed and excellent interceptor have not an EOTS style sensor so the capabilities for air to surface attack missions seems to be less extensive than J20/35 family.
The only reason to purchase a Su57 would be the Izdeliye 30 engine that seems to be very advance. But the last iterations of chinese engines are very good also, so all in all I think it has no sense for China to purchase this aircraft. So I bet also for Algeria.

China will never provide anything meaningful to Iran.

Chinese doctrine of arming countries is based upon their strategic goal of establishing absolute financial control over them turning them into client or satellite states just like the dominating vendor controlling the client kind of relationship between US and EU in the name of NATO. Iran is just not the dog they can whistle up. Same with Russia.

Freedom has a price.
You believe way too much western propaganda.
Why don’t you work for The Wall Street Journal with all that anti-China bullshittery?

Please accept my apologies for not sucking dicks of other countries and caring for Iran only.

I will find it strange but my knowledge of NAfrican militaries is limited. We will see I guess.

Two sources (one is BT) claimed Iranian F-14 and Mig-29 pilots have been trained in Russia and Iran for months. This was kinda proven later when Yak-130 was unvieled.

Some Iranian aviation OSINT accounts like (Reza_mad, Morghe-Tondar etc) have been posting images of the expansion of Iranian aviation facilities.

They are heavily reliant on Russian weaponry:

Some Yak-130’s, MiGs, and Older Sukhois. With about 60 SU-30’s creating the bulk of their fleet. Logical customer that can withstand western pressures (unlike banana Arab countries)

Although I don’t see why Algeria needs such a plane and who its rival is (Egypt? Greece? LIbya?) I don’t follow African Geopolitics either.

Looks like SU-57E is the official export designation for the fighter

Remember Algeria is countering Marocco in the north of Africa, a key ally of US in the north of África. They purchased some F16 block 62 with AESA radars and have purchased some of the best Chinese SAMs, so it makes sense to counter those systems with 5 generation radar. Even if those are not fully stealth, they are designed to operate inside or closer to high contested airspaces like Marocco. Anyway, with S400 purchased years ago and Bastion-P systems Algeria deployed in the coast, Argelia challenged NATO as only with those 2 systems, they are ready to close Gibraltar Strait. So Su57 would cement this strategical goal of closing Gibraltar Strait if they need It.

Morocco (NATO backed state) could be one factor for Algeria to arm itself. I will still find it hard to believe.

Is Algeria known in EU politics to be a Russian-backed state while Morocco is more western proxy?
