Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

ok, but from whom or which company or country did they buy 2 AN-26s?
And I ask the question again: is it possible that they are ex-Syria?
It did not say the name of the company they bought. Because Iran is embargoed in the aviation industry, the purchases are made secretly. This purchase is also related to 2 years ago and has nothing to do with Syria.

Trump considering even air strikes to Iran to stop nuclear program.

That makes urgent the Su35s and R37M. The next month we will know which way choose Trump.

But day after day seems obvious that Iran need urgently to refurbish all IRIAF and integrate it in the IAD.

I think IRIAF/Iran have left it too late, as the numbers wont be there and people wont be fully trained on them. The best Iran can hope for is to do the "dance" and ride things out as long as possible and use the time to rebuild the Iranian Airforce as if its life depended on it because it does. Additionally they need to review their defences to see if any generals have been paid off, and will flick the off switch at the required time as was in Syria ...

Looks like the clerics have finally had a hard reality check on the value of airpower. A bit late, and all they can hope for is to press the accelerate button on an emergency procurement programme.

indigenous GNSS constellation will help accuracy of ballistic missiles in medium term

but the best solution was always MRBMs + interceptor air force fleet + IADS

It is written "Atlas Air", they operate AN-26B.

Black camo looks sick.
You're right it's أطلس إير. Interesting it could also correctly be read "اطائر الإيراني".

Regardless, it's أطلس إير ("Atlas Air").

most likely again fake! If it would be true, you would have already seen it all over and especially here.

That’s why I came here! Yesterday I heard “soon”.

I guess Tehran Times got it wrong

Question for the Iranians.

Is your aircraft engine program, namely the Owj engine, at the stage where it’s indigenously capable of fully supporting a battlefield worthy plane?

Are you manufacturing your engines entirely at home? Particularly the metallurgy and the single crystal turbine blades manufacture, which are where it gets close to impossible.

That tech is available only to 3/4 nations. And is one of the most difficult thing to do. China spent billions over years and while it has made tremendous strides, it’s debatable whether it’s fully there

Obviously I’m asking for whatever publicly available information is out there. Wikipedia has some info, but it’s not convincing.

Why is there a cockpit if it is unmanned?

They said it will be unveiled and flown in the future, not today or yesterday

Iranian officials recently talked about test flights of unmanned drone version of Qaher-313

so Tehran Times stupidly interpret that as Iran announcing the drone and use an old photo of the Qaher-313 prototype

China is “there” now and there is nothing to debate as far as their engine technology is concerned.

They even dumped Russia from C929 jet liner project and will build all systems themselves for service in 5-10 years from now.

Even the prototype J-35s now fly with domestic engines. Unless you are very confident in the technology you do not put a test engine in a prototype plane.
