Iranian Air Force (IRIAF/IRGC-ASF) | News and Discussions

Iran need at least 200 - 300 purely New aircrafts, these May be su35, su30 or mig35. Eventually some mig-31 or su34...
For old airframes from the 70s, these would need to be dropped away... no doubt

It is the best interest for Iran to stick with more SU-35 at the moment, long range, capable in the region, very agile.
There is too much foundation needs to be laid before moving on to the stealth platform.

The age of dog fight is over agility is overrated in today warfare as shitiest of missiles are far more agile than any aircraft.
What is important is radars and e-warfare suit

I am fully awared of that, SU-35 is still a capable fighter, a good platform that Iran could get with reasonable pirce.

lol. But is Russia going to give it anyway though?

It took IR an international court order for Russia to deliver the paid S300 systems (defensive in nature).

What is this supposed to mean? Are you suggesting that nations with primitive technology should rely on Ballistic missiles over jets?

No he's talking about air to air missiles. His point is that meanuverability isn't a substitute for powerful missiles, powerful radar, and powerful engines. He is correct, you're not going to get into dogfighting range when the enemy is locking you and launching on you from 100 km+ away.

That is not true.
For a incoming missile, you need to break making a high G turn and engage your engines to maximum just to try to deplete the rocket engine of the missile. That was the reason why MBDA Meteor missile shifted from rocket engine missile (like R77/AIM-120) to ramjet type of missile (faster but also much higher range).

The missile will never chase you it predict where you'll be and try to be there . You better forget that nonsense Hollywood notion that an air to air missile will chase you .

It took me less than 15 seconds to find a clip about It.

I have already said many times in the past that BVR missiles are HYPE.

This has been proven time and time again by research and review of A2A battles since 1960s. Even American sources admit this!

If you think you are hitting a plane from 100KM or 150KM or 200KM with an A2A you are DREAMING. Unless the pilot is asleep or flying an ancient plane, he can easily avoid it. This will only become harder with 5th and 6th gen planes.

Today scoring an A2A kill at even 50KM would be very impressive and rare.

A good thread covering what Chief Designer of J-36 6th gen fighter thinks the fighter jet of the future should embody:

After seeing pictures of Fattah-360 and Arman being delivered to almost certainly Russia, this news is now more credible.

Iran and Russia are now in a strategic mutual defence relationship with each other.
