when the enemy can fire ATGMs and FPV drones across the country static air defences are impossible

ambush air defence systems are more valuable. 358 and SHORAD systems must be produced in huge numbers as well as mobile radars

Our main problem was 3 things:
1- sabotage missions which destroyed our radars
2- not having AF and AWACS to cover our AD blind spot
3- not having enough standalone AD systems to ambush the enemy


we didn't have technological problem, Russia lost more than 20 S400 systems , Chinese best export system were hapless against India Brahmous , so those has no chance against Israelis rampage ( as far as I Know , rampage missiles are far superiour than brahmous ) ...

so we should do these to restore our AD:
1- secure our home and think for counter measure against FPV (first part is intelligence operation and second part need some SHORAD to defend our radars as well)

2- Producing/Purchasing Fighters jets for securing sky and defending AD systems and covering blind spots (NOT IN OUR REACH AT THE MOMENT)

3- Producing and incorporating more indigenous AD systems ( just buy electronic parts in mass from china )

Evidently, Irans far more capable militarily than China.

Not better than China , China simply did so much downgrading to exported version which made it limited ...

I think the Iranian AD systems are fine but they don't have the budget to produce these in sufficient numbers for a country as large as Iran

even the S-300PMU2 order was very small

we can surely build some mini AWACS planes or drones to fly over west Iran

The sanctions did their jobs, limited our ability to improve ourselves and acquire enough weapons ...

They won't let Iran produce anything major anymore. Israel will probably bomb such production facilities. You are in a tough predicament.

Without money, we cannot have ideal military force ...

For example, our Fighter program Cleary was limited by budget, we could make Hypersonic missiles, AESA radars and massive GAS Turbine, so technically we have enough industrial base and technology to build something in par with JF17 B2 , but we couldn't ...

Side note: look like a Su35 is get shot by Ukranian low tech F16 ... so even buying Su35 cannot change equation against ZAF (Zion air force)

I think if we spend the money we gave to Russia for Su35 on our own project and really get serious on it , we could have something for this fight ... Russia simply gets the money and deliver nothing in meaningful number ( 3 air frame to this day !!! )

I really wonder how Yak-130 and F-14 were used in the war if at all

they can at least shoot down drones easily

We couldn't stop a single Scalp let alone a Brahmos.

We couldn't even see them coming.

Big gap on published capabiility/ specifications vs real combat testing.

In the Iran Iraq war, we had F-14s shot down by IrAF Mirage F-1s. Does that mean that the F-14 was useless compared to Mirage F-1s, or are loses just the nature of war?

Chinese AD system for export have Lowe characteristics than ours ... but our systems are low in quantity ...

we don't have enough info to recommend anything, we are just guessing...

I don't think their systems are worse, but Iran only invested in SAMs and missiles. The first got taken out without activation by insiders and that caused the second to be less effective. If we had time and money we should get China to revamp every aspect of our armed forces from top to bottom. Missiles are the only part we don’t need their help in, except help with accuracy. Even in SAMs they can help; we don't have anything similar to HQ-22 since B373 and Arman never entered service.

I mean SSMs when I say missiles by itself. And I don't accept the argument of we don't know what Iran has. The west very much knows everything we have. There is zero evidence most high end SAMs Iran makes like B373 are in service. Satellite imagery is freely available. You cannot hide SAMs underground, show me evidence they are in widespread service if you claim so.
