We don’t knew what type of EW/ECW iran was under and Israel is one of the best in the war. America was also likely helping as they can claim plausible deniability (same way IRGC ships help Houthi’s target western ships).

Yes, and all F-14’s were out in the open even active ones, which means that at least in some capacity Iran was running sorties.

There were at least a few separate videos of them flying low over Tehran likely to find drones or identify munitions.

But the only thing was strange. No mention of air forces role in the war. It’s almost like there was a coupe attempt/revolt happening simultaneously and Iran is keeping it under wraps.

Just very odd how little information has come out from both sides about what really went down inside Iran those 12 days. And 2 months after the war not much has leaked out.

as far as I am aware, the air force played virtually no role in the war. Israel released images of their F-16 jets over Syria/Iraq with no AAMs. so evidently they did not fear any Iranian jets.

it is weird that Houthis can fire SAMs at Saudi F-15s (with at least a few hits) but Iran cannot fire SAMs at Israeli jets. Even official channels claimed Iran captured F-35 pilots, lol. Of course there are no consequences for their lies...

On a serious note, they took out OTH radar and tracking radars making it difficult to track targets. It becomes like looking at the skies through a straw to find targets.

I don't expect them to challenge Israeli jets (although they could have done that, some of the Israeli jets were not even carrying AAMs), but they can at least hunt drones and interfere with Israeli attacks

great you hid the jets in an underground base and preserved them. but for what? to preserve them in the next war too? better to use and lose half of them while disturbing the enemy's plans than to not use them at all

Even if they force an Israeli jet to change course, or down a cruise missile, then the air force is doing its job.

They could have at least provided a buffer to slow down attacks. On ground targets.

IRIAF did good. They didn´t have a meaningful interceptor with real conexion to IADs, so hide them as much you can and save all crews and aircraft you can.

Obviously the role of the IADs didn´t performed as expected. And took many lives of Sepah and iranian scientists. That´s point to the inevitable conclusion that IRIAF must be completely relaunched.

And if the Regime doesn´t want, ok, they can relaunch IRGCAF.

But if they don´t buy new fighter jets and connect to the IADs, all Regime would live forever under earth. That´s it is.

F5 airframe is small. It would have been great if it could carry Fakhour.

Is it feasible to work with F5 airframe as the groundwork for a stealthy/semi-stealth platform with a relatively modern AESA radar?

Kind of like an F 5 2.0

The future is 6th gen, 7th gen; ai capabilities and integrated battle management systems, creating a kind of mothership/hub in the sky.

Iran could leap frog and just focus on developing a low cost system in the form of a drone. What ever happened to Sofre Mahi?

I had wished Shafagh program would have culminated in a low rcs light attack fighter that could serve this role... but IRIAF never continued it seems.

JF-17 block C would be good, but I doubt Pakistan would sell anything due to their relationship with the U.S.

70km , great for engaging those pesky eitan and heron drones .

also what is the use of 100+ plus missile if its only possible to fire it from 4 airframe. that Aim-7 or upgraded version of it could have been fired from Kowsar and F-4
