Is that the same last week where Pompeo and his general were basically denying him the option to do that? I don't recall Iran being cautious or acting differently during that time compared to other times.

I don’t remember any similar petition by high usa military officers like that one against attacking Iran...unprecedented in such way but this is not risiko game for pentagon...

Yes, chairman of joint stuff in open public war with own president...rejection from the highest level of usa military...and there were many other on side of the chairman, I mean among officers...that is very strong indication of how pentagon perceives such possibility...

I can only go by what they're saying, and I do take it more favourably seeing as US is a macho nation that doesn't want to look weak, especially when it's a military guy saying it. I don't see how this serves as propaganda.

If they attacked Iran after such public confrontation between political and military leaders, then it would be from present perspective consider as propaganda...with goal of good bad cop confusing Iran before war...

but both of them were really pissed off, nothing fake here...

In fact, Russia can also provide diplomatic support. That's why I think the Iran-Russia strategic agreement is essential, it would be a kind of extra life insurance. There are several reasons why the Russians took this commitment seriously.
