Israel's ideal scenario is that Iran backs away OR even if Iran fires some missiles then all of which are all intercepted and do no damage.
What Iran wants is to do an attack which goes non-intercepted and do some damage, but not too much that would pressure Israel to re-attack. Something like what Iran did after assassination of Qasim Solemani. It was not escalated any further.
