JF-17 - Updates, News & Discussion

Did Pakistan send/gift a JF17 to Burkina Faso? Seeing alot of Social Media feeds saying so .. any confirmation ??

Those social media crap generators know absolutely nothing of military, foreign affairs and geopolitics.

Since when Pakistan start meddling into African nations against european powers? We are not that big player.

Lastly, technically sending a single jet is impossible without its whole ground crew maintenance / flying crew training. Its a BIG project. You can't gift any country a single jet. There's a millions of dollars of investment required to enable a country use an aircraft.

The interpretation of these social media watchers is definitely wrong, because at the very least it would be flown by a NAF pilot. But, having the NAF further promote the jet with its African neighbors can tie the Sahel confederation nations into greater ties with Nigeria and away from Africa first Nigeria’s long term goals for growth, and economic interdependence, especially with limited logistics infrastructure and much untapped resources in these countries.

Pakistan should let Nigeria take the lead and just be one of the OEM suppliers, totally quiet in the background.

Maybe just one?

Maybe it’s a NAF deployment. If so, I hope PAF teams supporting the NAF could Liaison with the new governments of the Sahel looking to provide their own defense. Pakistani Air Force personnel in these countries could support a sale and facilitate increased trade and sharing of expertise between the countries. Making the JF-17 rugged for the Sahel could make it very appealing to these countries that need a modern 4th gen fighter that can endure at a reasonable operating price. The JF-17 is the best suited plane for this mission, IMHO, for these countries, where the tempo of operations will be CT campaign driven, not about constant A2A Combat patrols.

Sales of the JF-17, after the PAF shot down multiple of France’s best jet allows these nations to send a signal to France, regarding their independence. A sale Pakistan should do everything it can facilitate takes place.

Totally non realistic news .. with no sense of one jet transfer.. specially as gift seems to strange..

Can Pakistan afford to gift jet . ..

As I said, I think the speculation that it is a gift is false. People who see the jet arrive but don’t know the circumstances make a story. Realistically it must be a deployment of a NAF JF-17, possibly as a sales pitch with the Nigerian government likely to get a commission if it can get a sale. Possibly a demonstration mission is underway.

Possible .... Gift for sure is unlikely.
Subsidies cost is possible.

Its can be old block jet as well .. means used JFT near end of life.. given to them

But given the fact that pilots need training, unless there are pilots undergoing secret training from Burkino Faso, I assume these are Nigerian pilots.

So possibly a small contingent of 2-3 pilots and their support team of a dozen or so maintainers and officer coordinators (coordinating air ops), all Nigerian, have been invited to Ouagadougou.

I hope the JF-17 makes a good impression and we get good feedback as to how the jet can be improved for local needs.
