Joint Defense Agreement: Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and Pakistan, news & updates

For this agreement, we have spoken about the impact of this on various countries in the region but the one that is being missed out is Greece.

It was one thing for Greece to team up with Israel, to have a Greece + Israel vs Türkiye security construct but with the advent of this treaty, it also puts Greece against Saudi and Pakistan on top of Türkiye.

Greece would need to think about the implications of this for its security framework and whether the roadmap for the "Hexagon Alliance" (i.e. Israel, India, Greece and Cyprus) is now in its interests or not. The game has changed for Greece significantly as well, and the moves that both Israel and Greece were making, need to be rethought significantly. Does Greece double down, or does it rethink and recalibrate out of what was once a ever closer engagement with Israel ?

To be fair, once Turks get F-35 and/or KAAN it is pretty much game over for Greece anyway, Turks do not need our help here.

Geography means there will be little opportunity for mass land battles, and if there is Turkish equipment and experiance will see them through easily.

Naval wise ditto. They just need to requip their air force now, and quickly, but they seem to have a clear and workable roadmap here.

Not sure what Greece could actually offer as an ally to Israel

They're firmly in the pro-Israel/pro-Emirati Zionist camp. Now even signaling to the Saudis their disapproval of the alliance.

The change comes shortly after Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan signed a defense cooperation agreement that includes a mutual-assistance clause in the event that one of the parties comes under attack.

The agreement has raised concerns in Athens about the implications of Saudi Arabia’s closer defense ties with Turkey and Pakistan for Greece’s broader strategic relationship with Riyadh.

Greece has sought to deepen ties with Saudi Arabia in areas including defense, energy and infrastructure, while promoting the India-Middle East-Europe Economic Corridor, or IMEC, as a strategic route linking India with Europe through the Middle East.

Ofc
, they don't have the balls to withdraw the Patriots.

  1. It is not surprising that previous attempts failed. Countries without their own defense industry depend on foreign sources.
  2. The fact that Turkey has not fought Israel so far does not mean it will not fight in the future. We Turks have avoided entering a full scale war for 100 years. We have been working hard to develop our defense industry for the last 60 years.
  3. This alliance is not against anyone, but countries that cause instability and terrorism are uncomfortable with it.
The stability and peace brought by the alliance members to Afghanistan , Yemen and Syria in the last 20 years is there for all to see.
