TTP commander among 4 terrorists killed as security forces thwart infiltration attempt at Pak-Afghan border: ISPR

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Thursday that a “high-value target” identified as a commander of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was among four terrorists killed after security forces thwarted an attempt to infiltrate the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.

In a statement, the military’s media affairs wing said that last night the movement of a group of khwarij attempting to infiltrate through the Pakistan-Afghanistan border was picked up by security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Bajaur district.

“Own troops effectively engaged and thwarted khwarijs’ attempt to infiltrate. As a result of precise and skilful engagement, four khwarij, including kharji leader, a high-value target kharji Amjad alias Mazahim, were sent to hell,” the ISPR said.

The statement further said that the militant leader was the deputy of TTP chief Noor Wali Mehsud and the head of Rehbari Shura of Indian proxy Fitna al Khwarij. Fitna al Khawarij is a term the state uses for terrorists belonging to the TTP.

The ISPR said the militant leader was wanted by law enforcement agencies and the government had allocated a bounty of Rs5 million on him as he remained “actively involved in perpetuating numerous terrorist activities inside Pakistan while residing in Afghanistan”.

“It is pertinent to highlight that the leadership of Fitna al Khawarij, while residing in Afghanistan, is orchestrating infiltration attempts into Pakistan — primarily to project an impression of domestic presence and to raise the diminishing morale of their khwarij in Bajaur and Mohmand because of effective operations of security forces,” the ISPR said.

“It is once again reiterated that the interim Afghan government must take concrete measures to ensure that Afghan soil is not used by kharji proxies to perpetrate terrorism against Pakistan,” the ISPR said.

“It also validates our stance that Afghan soil is continuously being used as [a] safe [haven] by khwarij belonging to Fitna al Khwarij against Pakistan,” it said.

A senior leader of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and self-styled defence minister, Qari Amjad alias Mufti Muzahim, has been killed in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in Bajaur district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, sources confirmed on Thursday.

The Khorasan Diary wrote on X that Amjad, a key figure within the terrorist group, was killed early in the morning during the security operation.

On the night of October 29-30, security forces detected and thwarted an infiltration attempt by a group of khwarij in Bajaur District. Four militants were killed in the IBO including the TTP leader.

Amjad, deputy to khwarij leader Noor Wali and head of the Rehbari Shura of the India-linked Fitna al Khwarij, was a high-value target with a Rs 5 million bounty and was highly wanted by the Law enforcement agencies and government. He was actively involved in terrorist activities inside Pakistan while based in Afghanistan.

The leadership of Fitna al Khwarij continues to use Afghan soil to orchestrate attacks and boost the morale of militants in Bajaur and Mohmand. Pakistan reiterates that the Interim Afghan Government must prevent its territory from being used for terrorism.

Security forces remain committed to defending the nation’s borders. A sanitization operation is underway to eliminate any remaining militants, as part of the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign Azm-e-Istehkam, approved under the National Action Plan.

TTP has confirmed the death of Mufti Muzahim( Qari Amjad ) and his close aide, commander Yasir.
The statement claims Muzahim was killed by Pakistani security forces when he was travelling following directives of the TTP leadership. He was on his way to deliver new orders of attacks to TTP members in the Northern Zone of Pakistan.

DIR: Fateha for the slain deputy chief of the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Qari Amjad, continued for a second consecutive day on Saturday at the main mosque of Mayar Jandool. Large number of relatives, local residents, and friends from surrounding villages participated in the prayers.

According to family sources, the condolence gatherings will continue for three days in line with local customs and traditions. Qari Amjad, whose real name was Amjad Ali, was killed along with three associates in an intelligence-based operation near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur on the night between Wednesday and Thursday.

Military authorities handed over his body to the family on Thursday. The following morning, his remains were transported to his ancestral village, Mayar Jandool, where funeral prayer was offered at the central graveyard. The funeral, attended by hundreds, was held openly with permission from security forces—an unusual move for a senior TTP leader, as such gatherings are normally restricted following the deaths of terrorist commanders.

Family sources said Qari Amjad was the son of Muhammad Siddiq Akhunzada, a local schoolteacher who passed away in 2001.

Qari Amjad received his early religious education at a madrassa in Shahpur, Shangla, and later completed a Mufti course in Karachi. He, along with his younger brother Wajid Ali, joined the banned TTP in 2007. Wajid was killed in 2010 during a clash with security forces in Samar Bagh after planting an IED.

Known within the TTP ranks as Mufti Mazahim and Hazrat Mufti Deeroji, Qari Amjad married a woman from Khanpur Tekeni in 2007 and had two sons and four daughters. The family later moved to Afghanistan, where he lived for several years. His eldest son, now 18, is studying at a religious seminary in Afghanistan, where the rest of the family still resides.

Conflicting reports have since emerged, with some claims suggesting that he was killed inside Pakistan rather than across the border.

The villagers have great respect for him because due to his presence TTP spared his Mayar village and did not interfere with the locals compared to the rest of the district where people were frequently kidnapped and killed.

Sources said that he also worked as the caretaker of the same mosque where his fateha is offered currently. His mother died during his childhood after which his father sent him to a religious seminary for education where he was radicalised. His clan is known as Akunzada family and are considered educated as per local standards.

His family members believed that he was tricked into coming to Pakistan and then killed otherwise he was a difficult target.

His first wife is a local from Lower Dir while his second wife is a Yamni woman. His elder son is also married and settled in Afghanistan.

3 India-sponsored terrorists killed in KP: ISPR

Three terrorists belonging to the Indian proxy network “Fitna al Khwarij,” a term often used to describe the banned Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were killed in two separate engagements in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Monday.

According to the military’s media wing, security forces detected the movement of a group of terrorists attempting to infiltrate Pakistan from across the Pakistan-Afghanistan border near the Esham area of North Waziristan District on November 2.

Troops effectively engaged the group, killing two terrorists belonging to the Indian-sponsored network. One of the slain terrorists was identified as Kharji Qasim, an Afghan national who had previously served in the Afghan Border Police, the ISPR said.

In a separate intelligence-based operation in the Tank District, another terrorist associated with the same group, identified as Ikramuddin alias Abu Dajana, also an Afghan national, was neutralised.

The ISPR said the incidents highlight the continued involvement of Afghan nationals in terrorist activities targeting civilians and security forces inside Pakistan.

Pakistan has repeatedly urged the interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management and prevent the use of Afghan soil for terrorism against Pakistan, the statement added.

The military reaffirmed its resolve to defend the nation’s frontiers, stating that a sanitisation operation is underway in the area to eliminate any remaining militants.

Security forces and law enforcement agencies, the ISPR said, will continue their counterterrorism operations under the Azm-e-Istehkam campaign, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, to eradicate foreign-sponsored terrorism from the country.

A former Member of the National Assembly from a political party in Bajaur, Gul Zafar Khan, falsely accused the Pakistan Army of desecrating a mosque,

whereas the same Ireb Lower Mamund Mosque in Bajaur was used by terrorists as an arms depot.

Security forces repaired the mosque after clearing the area and reopened it for the public.

This action demonstrates the fact that the Pakistan Army fully believes in respecting religious sites and serving the public.
