Is there a feeling of patriotism and belonging to Pakistan among the Pashtuns themselves in Pakistan or if they had the opportunity would they be happy to join the Pashtuns in Afghanistan?

If it wasn't for this forum I would never have an idea of the difficult challenges Pakistan is going through and I can't understand that those terrorists who call themselves muslims do such things. Then again, those terrorists would not survive among the people if they did not already have the support of that same people.

It was in this context that I asked about the attitude of pakistani Pashtuns toward Pakistan for if they aspire to create a "Greater Pashtunistan" then, in my opinion, the fight against those terrorists is a war lost from the start. After all, you cannot defeat terrorists if they reflect the will of the people from whom they originate.

Would it be a solution to separate a small part of Pakistan and place all the Pashtuns who are in favor of merging with the Pashtuns in Afghanistan there through a referendum.

If it were up to me, that is how I would act to get rid of the disruptive element. As for the Pashtuns who chose to remain in Pakistan I would make their stay conditional on them accepting pakistani culture, language and the like, thereby building a pakistani identity.

I would do the same with the Balochs, set aside a small part of Pakistan for them and finish for all time both with them and with the Pashtuns. Then I believe there would be peace in Pakistan and then Pakistan could focus on its eastern border and on Kashmir.

Pull the rug from under PTI and regime change this province. Then together with a more collaborative and supportive leadership they can civilize FATA and have a unified position against the taliban.

KPK is basically recruitment center for TTP.

Pashtuns and Baloch of what is now Pakistan have always had their own identity, culture and history. These Pashtuns opted for Pakistan and have not been interested in any Greater Afghanistan or Pashtunistan campaigns. Pashtuns and Baloch of what is now Pakistan have always had their own identity, culture and history. These Pashtuns opted for Pakistan and have not been interested in any Greater Afghanistan or Pashtunistan campaigns. The problems you are seeing in the border regions goes back to Soviet-Afghan war and some really really bad, self destructive policies adopted by Pakistani dictators.

Keep in mind that many of our policies were guided by our Pakhtun hands in the government, ISI and the military. They felt it made sense to align with Pakhtuns which came at the cost of enmity with NA and non-Pakhtuns and their abetters. Second, I guess they felt given the natural affinity that Pakhtuns across the DL had/have for each other, it made good sense.

President GIK (who had multiple roles in the Zia setup), Lt Gens Hamid Gul, Durrani, Maj Gen Naseerullah Babar, Roedad Khan and others like Agha Shahi in the FO were the major voices and masterminds behind this tilt since Soviet-Afghan war days.

Pakistan did what it felt was aligned to its interests back then and with Pakhtuns being an important 30% of our polity, society and armed forces, their opinions and leanings mattered.

I understand the feeling of hopelessness of the progressive part of the population of Pakistan, but how smart is it to break and destroy Pakistan if you have India as a neighbor which is guided by the fascist Hindutva ideology?

Ideally, you could amputate parts of Pakistan and accommodate the Pashtuns and Balochs who want independence from Pakistan. Then let them go their way and the rest of Pakistan their way. I believe that if you would get rid of disruptive elements, then you would be able to devote more resources to your development in peace. I am saddened by the state you are in, I hope that someday you will have a capable government whose only guiding idea is ... economy, economy, economy.

Pashtuns have disagreements with the Federal Governement that does not make them anti PAK time and time again they have bled both in services and normal civilians for the misadventures of our 10000 iq mega mind GHQ side projects
