The Military Industries Sector @GAMI_KSA achieved a remarkable growth at #BudgetForum2026
:
— The Numbers:
• Contribution exceeding 6.5 billion riyals
• Increase in local spending from 4% in 2018 to 25% by the end of 2024

"Dreaming of entering the military industries field?
Well, listen up, you might not know this, but the Saudi National Academy for Military Industries was actually established.
The Academy was announced in 2022, and today it's become a reality on the ground, with its location in Riyadh spanning over 80,000 square meters, accommodating around 2,000 male and female students every year.
And its current specializations are distributed across four key tracks:
• Electronics Technology in Defense
• Mechanical Technology in Defense
• Electrical Technology in Defense
• Chemical Technology in Defense
And the great thing is that the General Authority for Military Industries GAMI has focused on developing the capabilities of our young men and women “civilians in the technical and scientific fields related to military industries.
And this thing actually raises their awareness and skills in a field that, unfortunately, many people were ignorant of before 2016, but today the situation is starting to change, because the goal is to enhance true awareness of the importance of military industries, so that the new generation knows exactly what it means to manufacture defense systems, and how electronics and mechanics and electricity and chemistry work within this sensitive sector.
And more important than awareness?
Enhancing localization.
Having an academy like this creates a generation that's understanding, qualified, and trained in a scientific way, and this is exactly what supports the state's direction in localizing military industries by 50% and more, because without trained and aware local cadres, there won't be a real industry, nor technology transfer, nor internal development.
And this is a big step because it doesn't just raise the level of individuals
— it raises the level of the entire sector and supports the Kingdom's independence in manufacturing, reduces our reliance on the outside, and opens up massive opportunities for the coming generation.

Leonardo DRS Company signs a memorandum of understanding with Saudi Arabia on C6ISR systems
Washington, DC – Leonardo DRS, Inc. (Nasdaq: DRS) today announced it has signed a Memorandum of Intent (MOI) with the Ministry of Defense (MOD) of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The memorandum aims to explore cooperation in ground combat vehicles and support capabilities for infantry forces
Expected areas of cooperation include:
•Advanced battle management, command and control systems.
•C6ISR solutions to raise field awareness and protect networks
•Advanced computing equipment for military vehicles
•Modern communications systems to support combat operations. •Techniques to enhance situational awareness for special forces and infantry

ockheed Martin Company announced the openingof a facility specialized in developing military software(Software Factory), in a step considered a strategicshift in the way modern defense systems are developed.
Notably, Saudi engineers were able to integrate complex systems in less than two weeks, and this proves that national competencies are ready to work on sensitive defense systems at a world-class level.
The importance of the news is that the matter is not just about software, but rather localizing knowledge, training, and technology transfer, with plans to launch a talent studio by 2026 to graduate Saudi cadres and reduce reliance on foreign expertise.
What does the "software factory" news mean?
It means:Saudi engineers write programs and systems, and develop software for aircraft, air defense, drones, command and control systems.
Development happens inside Saudi Arabia, updates happen faster—no need to send everything back to America, they train and employ local talent, meaning instead of waiting for an update that comes after months, they work on it here.!

The Jaser multi-mission aircraft can carry various payloads, with a maximum of 13 kg, a wingspan of 2.08 meters, an endurance of 45 minutes, and a maximum altitude of 4000 meters.
The Samil aircraft has a length of 3 meters and a wingspan of 4.67 meters. The maximum payload is 105 kg. It is launched using a rocket booster and powered by a piston engine, giving it a maximum speed of 250 km/h, a maximum altitude of 4500 meters, and a range of 60 km. It can carry a payload of 18 kg.
Theres a company called The Lion's den that is claiming to be first Saudi manufacturer for an indigenous 9mm pistol, 556 rifle and 50cal sniper rifle.
I tried to find more information about them but couldnt, I dont know if you have heard more about them.

I have heard about them but I really don't know their inner workings that well or what they are up to. They are one of many private Saudi Arabian defense companies that are gaining traction. SAMI/GAMI, if I am not wrong, also encourages the private sector to get involved.

Not sure where you are based in KSA, if Riyadh or not, but their headquarters appear to be near the Kingdom Hospital. Open on Sunday from 07:00-16:00.
I am sure that you could visit them and ask around a bit. Not sure how secretive they are though.
Looks like they took over this building somewhere after 2017 (where that photo below was taken).
Probably calling them beforehand would be good too and hear if they offer any tours. You could also pretend to be some official within the Pakistani army and gain access this way, if not open for civilians.

Serb Advanced Industries Company (SERB) obtains a contract to produce "suicide drones" for the Saudi army

A company official told Janes that both the Jaser and larger Samil are in production, although he declined to name which branch of the Saudi military has ordered them.
Serb also makes the larger Samil, which the company official said was developed from 2022 in line with Saudi military requirements for an aerial target, with deliveries beginning at the end of 2023
It has an MTOW of 105 kg, a length of 3 m, and a wingspan of 4.67 m. It is launched using a rocket booster and powered by a piston engine, giving it a top speed of 250 km/h, a service ceiling of 4,500 m, and a datalink range of 60 km. The official said it can carry an 18 kg payload although it is a disposable target.
