I am surprised no one posted that Syria wants to join the Makkah Defense Alliance? It was a major news on Pakistan's Dawn.com and the NYTimes.com today.

Also read that in Dawn. Interesting development but I noted the mixed signalling from the Syrian politician (?foreign minister) regarding Israeli occupation of parts of Syria as we speak.

Presumably it is a Turkish led initiative.

I wonder if the aim of this announcement is to put more political pressure on Bibi rather than a genuine intent to "fast track" a semi-failed state into a formal defensive pact.

Either way, it's a clever announcement to make. It will cause panic in Tel Aviv at the very least, with further criticism of Bibi being inevitable for so stupidly putting Tel Aviv in a near suicidal position.

Yes, I think Turkey is closing in on Israel through Syria and Naftali Bennet knows that. Similarly, Pakistanis deployed in western Saudi Arabia is also closing in on Israel.

The pact launched by Saudi is primarily aimed at Iran and the Houthis.

Adding Saudi to the Abraham Accords is Israel's strategic target. It was close to being achieved before Oct.7.

Middle East is wife (Israel) and concubines (Saudi, UAE, Turkey, these on F35 pending list). Pakistan doesn't get to be one only because India has more weight.

No one is the next target , can't figure out what purpose such a false narrative serves .... They are looking for a way out of the houthis and Iranian theatre... America and Israel have neither the political will or the capacity to take on turkey , Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.

Their security lens is unless all regional powers are dismantled or weakened they can't take a step back, the Israeli mindset is overburdening itself with the weight of history that this is a now or never period.

And that's where the Iranians don't help, they want to take on EVERYONE when Saudi have done their best to not react, houthis are the last proxy standing now

So if compelled the Saudis have to help take Iran down only to be a target later on, the Israeli calculation is managed chaos

Yup, the Makkah alliance is designed to add an extra layer of deterrence around this

Turkey in particular, through statecraft and nation building is sitting in a place of real strategic heft with Europe who are openly courting Turkish military strength to maintain NATO, with USA who now might offer f35, in the middle east and in south Asia... In addition to it's other sphere of Turkic state's




This is in stark contrast to a revolutionary state that needs to perpetually justify it's revolution, it's never stable, credit to the Saudis for being pragmatic enough to acknowledge this and work with turkey, credit to Pakistan to help push alignments, ultimately this is Pakistans natural position to create synergies
