They live under a dictatorship (the worst kind), they are either too ignorant that they do not know about it or may be they enjoy it so try presenting it as a democracy. It’s fundamentally a diplomatic issue between two countries. Sports and diplomacy often go hand in hand in international relations regardless of religions. There are numerous examples.

For example, if Ramiz Raja or any other Pakistani cricketer or non-political person had presented the trophy, the Indian cricket team would have had no objection. The issue is about the person’s political role, not their religion.

The "interactions" illustrate just how much of a drama this is and why your fathers in GoI and BCCI are all taking you clowns for a ride.

Indians need to make their mind up.

Otherwise, there is inevitably a perceived religious element. Even without this perception, India, its people, the BCCI and GoI all seem to have different versions of the script for this drama.

If the issue is with Naqvi, per se, then why refuse to shake hands with Pakistani players? The players are not "politicians" are they? You can't cite this "governmental interference" rubbish for this particular stance. Indeed, we have been led to believe by statements from Suryakumar Yadav that the handshake refusal is due to Indian governmental policy, in turn due to prevailing political narratives in Hindustan.

If the issue is with Pakistan, and that Pakistan civil interactions should be boycotted altogether due to whatever circumstances your government feels are applicable, then why this drama that "we would attend if someone other than Naqvi was there saar!"? Will Indians still not shake the hand of whomever is distributing the award, despite receiving the award?

According to the great Sunil Gavaskar, every Pakistani who pays taxes is funding a regime that kills Indian soldiers.
