DHAKA, Sept 11 (Reuters) - Bangladesh has ramped up vigilance at its border with Myanmar, with at least 18,000 Rohingya Muslims crossing over in recent months to escape escalating violence in Myanmar's western Rakhine state, officials in Dhaka said.
The influx of refugees from Myanmar has mounted as fighting escalates between the troops of the ruling junta and the Arakan Army, the powerful ethnic militia that recruits from the Buddhist majority.

"Thousands of Rohingya have fled to Bangladesh and many are waiting to cross. The situation is dire," said a foreign ministry official, who asked not to be named as he was not authorised to talk to media.
The new arrivals add to more than one million Rohingya refugees already living in overcrowded camps in Cox's Bazar district after they fled a military-led crackdown in Myanmar in 2017. They have little hope of returning to Myanmar, where they are largely denied citizenship and other basic rights.

There are 500 million Indians living below poverty line. You are a poor country can Dubai take them.
Dubai will find out teh hard way if they do

and no, they shouldn't

lol at thread.

Our CA clarified that we cannot push them away. But yes, it is creating problems for us. I am not sure how they propose to resolve this with Myanmar considering there is a war raging over there.

It appears that Rakhine state is completely out of control of the ruling junta and now in the hands of the Arakan Army.

I think Bangladesh needs to evolve an effective and multifaceted strategy to deal with the issue. It cannot be solved merely by having ‘ramped up vigilance at its border with Myanmar’.

By blocking or denying entry of the refugees, Bangladesh is depriving itself of a useful leverage. Normally refugees are one of the most effective assets in the defense policy of a state. You know what it means?

Second, Bangladesh needs to launch a diplomatic offensive against the oppression of Burma’s Muslims. It should constructively engage China, Pakistan, Indonesia, and Malysia to bring diplomatic pressure of the military junta of Myanmar. It should be much more active at the UN platforms and, with the help of friendly and sympathetic states, bring resolutions against the genocide of the Muslim minority in Myanmar.

Lastly, Bangladesh needs to actively support the Muslim fighters with training, logistics, intelligence, and moral assistance. Bangladesh needs to help them in creating the right perception in the world to counter the indifference currently being shown by the international community at large.

Myanmar is a Buddhist country. Not a Muslim country. If there is no unbearable situation encountered. Buddhists usually do not fall into extreme states.

of course. It should be necessary to strike against the MM military government.

The Military don't control the Rakhine region. It's under rebel forces. Junta is now on the losing side or kinda
